One example of thousands was an oil pressure switch NASA was buying for 330 dollars.
DOD price....over 10,000 dollars

DOD price....over 10,000 dollars
quote:
Perhaps no one understands the problem better than Shay Assad, now retired after four decades negotiating weapons deals. In the 1990s, he was executive vice president and chief contract negotiator for defense giant Raytheon. Then he switched sides… under Presidents George W. Bush, Barack Obama and Donald Trump, Assad rose to be the Defense Department's most senior and awarded contract negotiator. The Pentagon, he told us, overpays for almost everything – for radar and missiles … helicopters … planes … submarines… down to the nuts and bolts.
Shay Assad: This, Bill, is an oil pressure switch that NASA used to buy. Well, their oil switch cost with all of the cabling cost $328. This oil switch we paid over $10,000 for it.

This is the same DoD that the OT warmongers fellate when discussing the Ukraine larp. They just love seeing our tax dollars stolen.

How are politicians & bureaucrats supposed to launder their money for kickbacks?

I wish I could bill the DOD for my consulting services.
I’d have bitches fetching me Cambodian Breast Milk on the reg.

If I was President I would commence an investigation into where all that money went and publicly name every person and organization that got a kickback. Then I would prosecute every one, send people to jail, force organizations to pay fines or fold.
Which is why someone like me would never be allowed to be elected and if by some chance I was elected I would be obstructed, set up, or killed.

Acquisitions is a nightmare.
When I was on active duty I spent time in the Navy then later in the Army:
- broke a 9/16 deep well socket, supply said come back when I break the whole set. It cost the same to replace the entire set as it did to replace just one.
- For years the Army had me carry 3 sleep systems on my clothing record. That was two too many and at least $1000 in surplus property issued and never used. This type of thing happened with hundreds of thousands of people during the GWOT with sleep systems, rifle vests, cold weather clothing etc. Translates to billions lost.
- I wear prescription glasses like 25% of the servicemembers out there. Got issued multiple pairs of ballistic glasses, multiple times, probably cost $100 or so for the government to purchase each time. They do not accommodate a prescription in any way. I could not refuse them. Happened millions of times in the GWOT. Costs us billions.
Our military budget is pretty reasonable with regard to what we actually do, the training conducted and so forth. Acquisitions kills us. Top heavy military costs us a minimum of $5B every year. Too many troops overseas costs us billions as well.
Another thing the military started doing is lifecycling office equipment, mainly computers, way too often. Most people can very easily use a computer at home (heavily) or work, for five years or more. DoD started replacing machines at 18months at one point that I remember. Just waste. Nothing but waste.

You should check out an itemized hospital bill if you really want to see some gouging

Having experience in DoD acquisitions, I can say that contract “re-competes” are a joke. There is always some technology involved that is a trade secret and would be way too complicated and cost too much to award the contract to a different, cheaper contractor.
Government loses their asses monetarily on proprietary items that have no backup supply chain to the proprietary items delivered on the contract.
Causes a circular, incestuous relationship on large acquisitions and continuous service contracts.

How utterly "unelectable"! Standing for common sense and the truth has no place in modern politics!

The end-of-fiscal-year scramble to spend money with women/black/hispanic/service-disabled vet/vet,native-americans/pacific-americans is a license for corruption and overpayment.

That shite's going straight to black budgets.
