I feel sorry for anyone in law enforcement. You interact with people at their worst, often on the worst day of their lives. It's a dangerous, thankless job

quote:

Maryland enacted historic police accountability measures Saturday, becoming the first state to repeal its powerful Law Enforcement Officers’ Bill of Rights and setting new rules for when police may use force and how they are investigated and disciplined.

The Democrat-dominated legislature dealt Republican Gov. Larry Hogan a sharp rebuke, overriding his vetoes of measures that raise the bar for officers to use force; give civilians a role in police discipline for the first time; restrict no-knock warrants; mandate body cameras; and open some allegations of police wrongdoing for public review.

Each bill had been hailed by criminal justice advocates as having the potential to make policing in the state fairer and more transparent. Democrats, who hold large majorities in the legislature, made enacting them a top priority after months of protests over the police-involved deaths of unarmed Black men and women.

The media has really driven home the "cops are killing minorities" narrative the past ten years. Keep in mind these are all rare cases.

Blacks kill each other by the dozens every day, some of them children. But that's not important.

Blacks killing any human is not important.

It's only important if the killer was white and/or involved in a mass shooting.

I would have to be a couple of years from pension to remain a cop.

Idiots have never figured out that the police is a need, not a want.

Maryland is actually a nice state with some bad areas like B-more. The rest of Maryland is very pleasant.

Anyone close to pension should mail it in, everyone else should resign immediately. The citizens will get what they voted for.

The cartel owns the police in Mexico, period. It's like how the five families owned the police and the local courts in the mafia heyday.

I look forward to the wholesale retirement/resignation of LEOs in MD.

I am sure it will work out well for them.

It makes me think of Peru, with the elites living behind walls in Miraflores. Separated from the poverty, the violence, and the crime of ordinary life.

Annapolis will always be pleasant.

Baltimore is now on par with Detroit and Oakland as the official worse place to live...per 300k residents.

Gary, IN and Flynt, MI are excluded in this poll.

Exactly if I am close to retirement I would play by their rules and tell the average citizens they better buy a firearm and learn how to use it. Their life and families safety is in their own hands basically.

I asked my father how many unarmed blacks were killed by cops in 2019.

He is very sharp and pay attention to everything... But he has cable TV...

He guessed 2000...

He falls in line with a poll I read. 44% of people guessed it was 1500-2000 a year.

As of the June 22 update, the Washington Post’s database of fatal police shootings showed 14 unarmed Black victims and 25 unarmed white victims in 2019.

Not to mention that really swell applicant pool Maryland departments are about to have.

It's amazing. Democrats seem to think a collective temper tantrum is how government priorities are set and legislative action is taken... yet... they condemn the riots on Jan 6. odd innit?

Wrong. There are multiple mass shootings every weekend in big cities which are 99% black on black.
