Sen. Joe Manchin has asked Sen. Majority Leader Chuck Schumer to remove his pipeline permitting reform bill from a continuing resolution (CR) to fund the government.

Schumer, D-N.Y., had agreed to attach Manchin's pet project to a bill to fund the government in exchange for his vote on the Inflation Reduction Act. But amid bitter opposition from both Republicans and the progressive left, Manchin realized leaving in pipeline language could potentially trigger a government shutdown.
'It is unfortunate that members of the United States Senate are allowing politics to put the energy security of our nation at risk,' the West Virginia Democrat said in a statement. 'A failed vote on something as critical as comprehensive permitting reform only serves to embolden leaders like Putin who wish to see America fail.'

Manchin is either:

1.) A giant piece of shite

Or

2.) Incredibly stupid and naive

remove his pipeline permitting reform bill

This always seemed like a ruse.

Pipeline permitting that is inside WV state lines is WV business. Intrastate pipelines.

Only when pipeline cross state lines it becomes federal regulatory business. However those laws are already codified. The FERC is the overarching permitting agency for interstate pipelines.

Now where the White House has immediate justification for permitting pipelines are across border pipeline projects. International pipelines are permitted by the State Department. That's why Biden could kill the Keystone XL pipeline so quickly. It was an international pipeline.

The pipeline bill would require the president to select 25 permitting projects for priority review, creates a 'target' review time of 1-2 years, and automatically greenlights Manchin's Mountain Valley pipeline in West Virginia

This is dumb.

First of all you can't automatically greenlight a pipeline project. It has to meet all the regulatory requirements before it get's "greenlighted". There is already a process for that.

Second I suppose the FERC can prioritize Joe Manchin favored pipeline projects but again, all these pipeline projects would have to meet the regulations on the books before being permitted. FERC only has 10 pipeline projects on the docket and one of these involves WV. LINK

None of this makes sense.

this bill would have built something in Virginia, and no one told Kaine, neither Schumer or Manchin.
So he was publicly on the fence whether he would oppose the bill.

12 years wasn't enough time to learn that all democrats are lying pieces of shite that would double cross and stab him in the back? Totally planned cover for screwing over his constituents.

Manchin Caves

He didn't cave

quote:

On her way to work one morning
Down the path alongside the lake
A tender-hearted woman saw a poor half-frozen snake
His pretty colored skin had been all frosted with the dew
"Oh well," she cried, "I'll take you in and I'll take care of you"
"Take me in, oh tender woman (come on in)
Take me in, for heaven's sake (come on in)
Take me in tender woman," sighed the snake

She wrapped him up all cozy in a coverture of silk
And then laid him by the fireside with some honey and some milk
Now she hurried home from work that night, as soon as she arrived
She found that pretty snake she'd taken in had been revived
"Take me in, oh tender woman (come on in)
Take me in, for heaven's sake (come on in)
Take me in, tender woman," sighed the snake
Now she clutched him to her bosom, "You're so beautiful," she cried
"But if I hadn't brought you in, by now you might have died"
Now she stroked his pretty skin again and then kissed and held him tight
But instead of saying thanks, that snake gave her a vicious bite (oh...)
"Take me in, oh tender woman (come on in)
Take me in, for heaven's sake (come on in)
Take me in, tender woman," sighed the snake

"I saved you," cried that woman
"And you've bit me even, why?
And you know your bite is poisonous and now I'm gonna die"
"Oh shut up, silly woman," said that reptile with a grin
"You knew damn well I was a snake before you brought me in"
"Please take me in, oh tender woman (come on in)
Take me in, for heaven's sake (come on in)
Take me in tender woman," sighed the snake
Sighed the snake
"Take me in, tender woman" (come on in)
Sighed the snake, sighed the snake
"Take me in, tender woman"
Sighed the snake

Anyone seen the BS about emissions? Forces all companies to prove they are not or how much they are emitting. If you don't you can always just pay the tax based on the average calculated rates per industry.

The rates of course are set by a study done at the EPA, surprise, the calculated emission rates are fricking sky high results in huge tax burdens.
