Dude, people can say or not say whatever they want. Crude or not. Slur or not. I've got bigger fish to fry than figuring out who is trying to insult whom.

That's where a lot of folks lose the plot on this "who can say it?" brouhaha. You can't simply wish words out of existence. Language doesn't work that way. The last time a white person called me that slur and meant it as a pejorative, I laughed in their face. It was that ridiculous. And I laugh if/when black people do it, too. My younger brother and I literally have a video series where we laugh at such stupid profanity/slur-ridden messages irl
