A bill that would allow Louisiana Senate President John Alario Jr.'s name on a planned recreation complex near Avondale has passed the House by a vote of 81-16. While no threat to the measure, the dissent came as a surprise considering that a House committee had unanimously endorsed it and that the Westwego Republican is one of the most influential politicians in the state.

Want to know one of the reasons why Louisiana can’t shake these last in everything rankings? One reason is because our “leaders” still continue to kiss up to kiss up to and grant every favor under the sun to politicians like John Alario and Francis Thompson, who have already taken way more than their fair share from state and local government.

Even Governors Bobby “Gold Standard of Ethics” and John “Honor Code” Bel Edwards, instead of shunning crony legislators like Alario, have instead further pushed his leadership and influence in the Legislative Branch of Louisiana government.

They should empty out the Poverty Point Reservoir and rename it the Francis Thompson Money Pit.

Thank god that piece of shite is being termed out this fall.

He is exactly why need term limits to protect us from power hungry and corrupt politicians like him.

Thanks to David Vitter for pushing term limits. Louisiana thanks him.

He's just going to jump back into the House as a rep instead of a senator. LA has quasi term-limits.

Well we're going to have to fix that by amending the term limits amendment aren't we?

Make it illegal for the next 5-8years to run for any house or statewide office after being termed out of either the house, the senate or any statewide office.

Reason #2 why the Department of Justice & FBI is ineffective at rooting out corruption is the fact these two are still actively in politics.

Isn’t there a state law barring buildings being named after people living?

Yes, but John Alario has been such a great public servant for the State of Louisiana and her taxpayers that an exception needs to be made for him.
