After nearly 8 hours the measure passes to a full house vote 11-5. Could apparently lower premiums 10%. Is that reality?

With JBE veto power, not likely I’d say.

Should be DOA in the Senate if my knowledge of the Louisiana Legislature amounts to anything.

Nope...it's a very different Senate now that Alario is gone.

I'd LOVE for this to happen, but with JBE's veto power I won't hold my breath.

Funny that insurance companies wouldn’t commit to it, though

Any chance we have the votes to over ride the veto?

No, it’s not. Premiums are as high as they are because of the insurance commissioner. Not because injured people have their right to a day in court.

Then put it in the bill. Automatic decrease upon passage.

Here we go again - a bunch of non lawyers supporting legislation that takes away Louisiana citizens’ legal rights in favor of foreign insurance companies’ bottom line.

Of course just like coronavirus, not you or anyone in your family is never going to get destroyed in a car accident.

The CEOs and executives for these billion dollar companies appreciate your willingness to give up your only method of recourse to aid their struggling companies. I’m sure they’re going to pay all legitimate injury claims out of the kindness of their hearts.
