Louisiana Special Session - We All Know How it Will End
These politicians - majority of which are on the “R” team - are gonna get our hopes up that they’re gonna curb spending and not raise taxes...

...and then, on the very last day of the session - BAM! They’re gonna hit us with a hefty tax increase (probably sales tax), and then they’ll all start acting glum, and shocked, and exhausted, telling us “we tried EVERYTHING, and there was no choice. We had to do it. Sorry baws.”

Just watch. Getting too old. Seen this too many times.

Let me know if you think I’m wrong.

Not wrong.

It's what they do.

I believe you're right on the mark.

That "R" stands for 'Rotten to the core'

JBE claims that this year they just need to renew or replace some temporary taxes that are expiring and that he does not need to raise taxes. And that may be, seeing how taxes were raised so much the last few years.

If the republicans in the legislature only knew how to count they would already understand the nature of the issue and would have made income and outflow adjustments. But they refuse to do simple math. Also, the tactic of always making tax cuts permanent but taxes temporary ensures instability every year.

Idiots.

This is will always happen when you have so much revenue dedicated (Untouchable). More depressing is, most elections there is a constitutional amendment to protect something else that passes, which only exacerbates this problem.

In the end, this state’s problem is it voters. They don’t understand half of what they vote for and they don’t follow the actions of the people they vote for to know if they are fulfilling campaign promises. There is no interest in most voters to understand what’s going on budget wise.

And nursing home owners have to make a buck while movie makers have to shoot films, right?
