Governor John Bel Edwards has announced plans to close all schools out of concern over the rise in coronavirus cases in Louisiana.

State officials announced Friday that all schools in the state system will be closed March 16 to April 13.

John Bel Edwards
@LouisianaGov

Today, I signed a proclamation that immediately halts any gathering of more than 250 people until Monday, April 13, closes all K-12 public schools statewide effective Monday, March 16 and also moves upcoming state elections. #lagov #lalege

Yep. It's great. All the kids will be home for a month. All the parents have been laid off work for a month from businesses closing.
Everyone will get to stay home and enjoy some quality time.
Ain't Democrats just grand!

My dad is a principal at a Louisiana public school and this is a big negative as far as he knows. Some districts may be closed, but not the public school system.

And all the working class paycheck to paycheck types will soon run out of money to buy up all the toilet paper and hand sanitizer.

Not everyone... some of us work in healthcare.

I, for one, want to be able to go home after work. Not really sure how much longer that will be the case. I think best case scenario, we start doing the equivalent of turnarounds, worst case is we get locked in.

This shite is crazy and a bit scary on several fronts; what's going to happen to people who get a regular cold or hayfever? Presumptive quarantine?

So what happens to businesses like casinos? They just close for a month?

What’s the basis for closing schools for a month? Jesus Christ.
