Not trying to enflame, I'm genuinely curious how a deep red state elected and will probably again elect JBE as your governor?
Hell in Arkansas, a state similar to LA, but still a little different, a D can't sniff more than 30% or so on a statewide ballot. We even have an establishment, swampy as hell governor, but he still destroyed his competition last year.
Did Bobby Jyndal (sp??) really break the voters that much?

But who's voting for him?? I just don't see how he gets 50 % of that state. It means there has to be many R's casting their ballot for him, right?

Don’t let national elections fool you. This state is no where near as red as it seems. Just because they’re not full on transgender other-kin lesbian dance therapy progressives doesn’t mean they don’t love them some communism. This state was socialist 100 years before anywhere else in this country. The New Deal was stolen from Governor Huey Long. Everyone in Louisiana is dependent on state government for their livelihood in one way or another, and the governor has nearly absolute authority over the budget. That makes a sitting governor extremely powerful no matter who he is.

David Vitter hung out with DC prostitutes and JBE ran some commercials stating that he was pro life and owned guns. He also sat back in the jungle primary and let Dardenne, Vitter, and Angelle shite on each other. Then played the remarks against Vitter in the runoff.

Bobby Jindal based his policies strictly on what gave him the most Street Cred in a Republican Primary Process, regardless of whether or not those policies were actually beneficial to Louisiana or not. He raided state pension funds and one time revenue sources to temporarily plug budget holes to say he ran a balanced budget, when in fact he was just kicking the van down the road. This pissed a lot of Republican voters (like myself)
Then the Republicans nominated David Vitter in the primary election. He was seen as another Jindal and also had gotten caught up in a prostitution scandal, which turned off some Evangelical Republicans.
Edwards very slickly ran as a pro-second amendment, pro-life moderate who lived by the Weat Point Honor Code. Guns and Abortion swing a lot of moderate votes and take away two primary objections that a lot of Republicans have with Dem candidates.
It was a perfect storm of events.

The republicans ran a man who went to a whore house and got caught. Claimed to be a Christian but committed adultery. And I still voted for him over Edwards. And Edwards is from my Parish. The Republicans have to put any candidate out there without baggage and he will win. Bobby J. was a huge disappointment and he angered a lot of voters. His stinch has left the room. Give us someone, anyone.

Orleans Parish and Acadiana

Because not many people go out and vote in this state and when the republican candidate has a lot of bad dirt on him, people just won’t vote and the only people who end up voting are the NOLA liberals

He’s not entrenched and he won’t win re-election.
He’s a one-and-done governor.

Don't forget the Republican traitors Angelle, Dardenne, and Newell and I believe some northshore republicans all came out in support of Honor Code.

Because Republicans suck.

Louisiana is a purple state. Economically speaking we're much closer to California and New York than Texas. Unfortunately we're not nearly as successful as those states due to the vast majority of our citizens being lazy idiots.

It's not out of the question for a democrat to win in Louisiana, especially since the previous governor, Bobby Jindal, a republican, was a disappointment, and the strongest republican running against Bel-Edwards was David Vitter, a classic uncharismatic Rino, known for screwing hookers during his time as a senator in DC.
Jindal's predecessor, Kathleen Blanco was a democrat, and a total disaster. Her predecessor, Mike Foster, was a republican. And his predecessor, Edwin Edwards, was a democrat. Louisiana is not as red as the rest of the south. Under the right circumstances, Democrats can win here.

I have NEVER voted for a Democrat, and I would vote JBE over Jindal tomorrow.
However, As horrendous as Jindal was...the answer to your question is no.
The reasons were diapers and honor code.
Our Republican Party at the state level is a shite show and JBE is the result.

Because folks couldn't vote for Vitter since he slept with a prostitute....seriously I have had several people tell me that is why they voted for JBE. Now they bitch about JBE.
