HB1083 by Representative Candace N. Newell
DISCRIMINATION: Provides relative to hair discrimination in education, employment, public accommodations, and housing options

Current Status: Signed by the Governor - Act 529

This god forsaken state really focusing and wasting money on the important things.

New Orleans and Atlanta have single handedly destroyed two great southern states.

Man I try my best not to trash my home state, I love it dearly… but it’s getting almost impossible to defend her these days.

So dumb. Hair style is totally a choice and not a quality that should be protected.

If you are referring to the fact that black people have different kinds of hair than white people.
Then there is already laws on the books that protect black people and their hair.
So, dumb. Pandering for nothing.

In Biblespeak this is what's called "strain at a gnat and swallow a camel", IMO. But I'm no politician.

Nice.. I’m going to shave a hitler mustache and tell the boss to get used to it or get sued.

Does this prevent employers from discriminating against white men with long hair or is that (D)ifferent?

JBE had a bill to sign because the GOP majority legislature passed the bill.

So, whether you vote Democrat or Republican, you're voting to protect weaves and dreadlocks.

With all of the problems in the state of Louisiana, this is what the governor prioritizes?

How can they prove that’s the reason you don’t hire someone?

That’s not how it’s going to be handled. It will be the burden of the company to prove they didn’t discriminate based on their hair style.

Saw this on the news and got excited at the possibility of growing a beard and being protected by this. Turns out, it basically for blacks to be able to wear their hair in any fashion

Yes. This was specifically discussed. You should be able to do whatever you want with your hair.

When you’re self-employed, absolutely.

I appreciate this board for several reasons, but one is that I’d have no idea how screwed up New Orleans and the entire state is if I didn’t read it here.

Okay, but where exactly does it say it?
Because
quote:

Natural, protective, or cultural hairstyle" shall include but is not limited to afros, dreadlocks, twists, locs, braids, cornrow braids, Bantu knots, curls, and hair styled to protect hair texture or for cultural significance.

Specifically excludes the text of, “long, straight hair.”

But a couple months ago people were fired for not being able to decide what to put in their body. Funny how that works.
