I still don't know why someone running in a solid Gop/Dem state/district would get out of their home and say anything publicly

Exactly. They need to gag her mouth to stay quiet. They really need to get better candidates.

The most upsetting part obviously isnt that she is GOP. It's that the state had to choose such a controversial candidate.
Believe it or not, their are plenty of hardworking Blacks in Mississippi who deserve representation just like anyone else. Even if one side wins, the other side are still citizens of your state.

Actually some debate over that , one of many reasons why I strongly dislike her

Believe it or not she was the lesser of the controversial candidates which is hard to believe

I can believe it lived there and vote there, you again are not saying anything anyone does not already know. They will have representation, thats why their is runoff idiot

No matter who wins they all will be citizens of the state, and no matter who wins both candidates suck, so these "sides" you talk about have to choose between a lesser of two evils so to speak. Guess what volod there will be black people that vote for her, shocking I know to somebody like you. Guess what there will be white people also that vote for the black democrat, which is more shocking for you?

They are represented. Do you really think that if a black calls a Republican Senator's office that they get less than equal treatment for their problem? All calls are logged, all who wish to open a case to be managed are. Everyone has access to having a solution found. Big donors and friends of the Senator have better and maybe faster access. Jow Blow still is represented.

Well the black majority in district 2 can elect whoever they want to represent them. But they elect Bennie Thompson that is one of the laziest wastes of space in Washington. He is good for introducing bills aiming to ban members of Congress from sleeping in their offices. Really groundbreaking stuff that helps the 2nd district!
Meanwhile republican leadership in the state is trying to keep the most business favorable climate as possible to keep a major employer, Nissan, of hardworking blacks around Jackson happy and lure businesses like Yokohama to West Point that was badly needed, contintinental tire to Jackson, and Toyota to just outside Tupelo.
Bennie Thompson jump and screamed about bringing the Union to Nissan when it has been voted down by employees more than once. Mississippi being a “non-union” state as well as an employment at will State was a major factor in luring Nissan. The reversal.. who Thompson and state Dems are all in for.. would probably lead to an eventual exit.
Meanwhile when businesses are forced to unionize like General Tire, Omnova, EkoNobel and American Bosch in Columbus.. they leave. Omnova left just two years after a strike. Basically as fast as they could leave by setting up somewhere else.

Do those districts not have representatives?

The only problem is that she’s a complete moron and an embarrassment. Espy sucks too. Reminds me of the 2016 presidential race...two terrible choices.

I'm not a fan of Hyde-Smith. She's a puppet for the establishment GOP.
But she's slightly better than a puppet for the socialists.

Yes, Hillary and Bernie were terrible choices.

What's wrong with Hyde-Smith? Serious question.

You do realize, the worst parts of the state are in Democratic strongholds, who've had the same Congressmen for 30 some odd years and do nothing for those impoverished people. The local governments tax the hell out of small businesses to pay for this and that. Which in turn strangle holds any young entrepreneurship to rise up. It's a cycle that keeps getting perpetuated and exacerbated by the people claiming to try and help them. Too add, I lived in Yazoo City for 3 years, there is only so much you can do for people who won't do for themselves. That's the sad reality of the situation, claiming they don't have representation is absurd. They do, it's just shitty representation.

Everyone knows this. The number of people in general who've tapped out and subsist on local, state, and federal programs is disgusting, and that number among blacks in Mississippi is probably near the highest rate in the country.
But I guess it's ok to pretend like that's not true.

If this was a blue state, I would agree with you. However in a place like deep red Mississippi, it is pointless to waste and powder electing the next John McCain who is going to stab the Maga agenda in the back for decades. Take a knee and run a non swamp creature next time.

My understanding she has backing from the same names that propped up the zombie senator Thad Cochran through his last "Weekend at Bernie's" style campaign and term. Those people didn't give a crap about feeble Cochran being senator nearly as much as holding onto the seat for the establishment GOP, and then had Hyde-Smith appointed to finish the term when Cochran couldn't sit up straight in the seat anymore.
So guess why she's there.

It sounds like her election isn't a net loss, but more "net neutral". That's not really compelling to me. Certainly not compelling enough for me to concede to the "OMG WASIS" narrative.
