But on one occasion, The Daily Beast has learned, Guccifer failed to activate the VPN client before logging on. As a result, he left a real, Moscow-based Internet Protocol address in the server logs of an American social media company, according to a source familiar with the government’s Guccifer investigation. Twitter and WordPress were Guccifer 2.0’s favored outlets. Neither company would comment for this story, and Guccifer did not respond to a direct message on Twitter.
Working off the IP address, U.S. investigators identified Guccifer 2.0 as a particular GRU officer working out of the agency’s headquarters on Grizodubovoy Street in Moscow. (The Daily Beast’s sources did not disclose which particular officer worked as Guccifer.)

So, a Russian officer? He’s the guy who got Wikileaks the emails.

This is called fake news with an orchestrated back story courtesy of the IC.
Congrats Gnome, you not only fail over on the OT, you fail over here as well.
You should drink copious amounts of gasoline and play with matches.

Except Guccifer 2.0 wasn't the "hacker" of the DNC.

You do know that the IC can make their hacks look like they come from anywhere.
Why didn't obama do anything about this?
not nearly as much Russian shite going on in the last year
just one more thing Trump has improved

And they people that have seen the metadata say that the "mistakes" that people are using to confirm Guccifer as the hacker of the DNC are beyond amateur hour. In fact, they say that no modern hacker would even use those techniques that CrowdStrike claims are the tell-tell signs of Russian Guccifer hacking the DNC.

So Russian intelligence is dependent on a client VPN to hide its IP address? And dependent on the user to remember to connect?

Your perusal of fake news is impressive.
Most people would read that, and say to themselves.."that shite is fake news". Not you though. Bravo, good sir, bravo.

Damn dude, do your homework.

I dont know much, but I know enough that its HIGHLY unlikely a serious hacker would operate at all fully in the open. They dont check email without putting on their suite of obfuscation tools and methods. Again not an expert, but will bet money those more knowledgable/reputable would support that sentiment. Everyone I know remotely in network security go to seemingly extreme lengths to do things on the internet most dont think twice about doing. Biggest advice they all told me, never connect a bluetooth device of any kind to the rest of a network. Keep it off on your phone when not using.
Im not even debating whether or not dnc was hacked, whether it was a russian op or not.
Just straight up, that explanation of how they know does not pass the smell test.

I thought this was fake but it's trending on multiple news sites. At the end of the day we will know when Mueller finishes. This would certainly destroy the Republicans in the near term.

I read this board and other comment feeds daily. Whole lot of folks in denial that Russia helped Trump.
And they don't have to have played a role in the hacking. If it's proven that they or Republican operatives coordinated even unknowingly it is politically devastating.
If anyone associated with the Trump campaign coordinated the release of information obtained by Russian intelligence officers attempting to influence the election it's on...
This would also mean that by Intel definitions, Roger Stone was successfully recruited and used as an asset by foreign Intel officers. I am sure some of you remember your mandatory counter Intel training. It's actually illegal...

So the comment
“It's a real life M. Night plot twist.
99.9% of the russion collusion happened in the democrat side.”
Would be, in your opinion, complete bullshite yes?
