Headline
"It was a nightmare:’ 12-year-old healthy girl suffers from cardiac arrest triggered by COVID-19"

First Sentence:
COVINGTON, La. (WVUE) - A 12-year-old Covington girl recovers from cardiac arrest doctors say was likely triggered by COVID-19.

Fox8Live.com Link

They must not have had room in that headline to squeeze the word "likely" in.
Reading on, no where in the story does she test positive for COVID-19.

quote:

While COVID-19 among kids isn't very common, doctors say many of those diagnosed with the virus, are also fighting another virus.

"The COVID or the Adenovirus caused this caused this to her heart, and made the cells in her heart quite angry and not really work very well," Kleinmahon said.

I'm glad the girl is OK and I don't wish to diminish the ordeal or fear the parents and that girl went through. My issue is solidly on the reporting.

Local media is just as bad as mainstream media they all lie and have an agenda. And guess what that agenda isn’t to report honest and truthful news

It’s 99% covid-19 did cause this

She suffered from what looks like a Kawasaki disease episode. Those episodes are usually triggered from a virus

So, while covid very likely did cause this, that’s how this disease is usually triggered

Y’all don’t need to be triggered by this story.

This one was just blatant. VERY SCARY HEADLINE that states this normally healthy girl almost died because of COVID. Then the story says nothing of the sort. Just a wild hunch that it could be it OR the much more likely virus and existing heart condition it uncovered.

Our local stations are a joke. If I want to know about the next festival or the plate lunch of the week I guess it is great. If I want to find info on corrupt local politicians or similar, I look at small independent orgs.

Plus a lot just regurgitate whatever their crooked parent network (NBC, CBS, etc) gives them.

No. Inflammation of the organs is what happened here, which is absolutely triggered by a virus, in this case, covid-19

Fine, I would assume she was tested for COVID? The story omits that result but simply speculates. Headline makes a very bold statement, story speculates maybe it was that. I have an issue with that reporting.

Did she test positive for COVID-19? If not then you can't say that was a probable cause of it.

Please show me in that story where it states she had covid-19. Other than the headline which is immediately undermined by the first sentence.

You can go read the Ochsner press release which talks about her having covid-19....
quote:

"I died for two minutes," Juliet Daly told "Good Morning America" in an exclusive interview about her unlikely health journey that began three weeks ago when she was airlifted to Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans with heart failure. Juliet's rare heart condition was caused by inflammation and was triggered by COVID-19, according to her doctor, Jake Kleinmahon, MD, a pediatric cardiologist at Ochsner Medical Center.

I mean you can just listen to her pediatric cardiologist that tested her who just outright says it was caused by covid-19.....

Look up covid-19 and Kawasaki disease guys. It’s real, and it happens. However, it isn’t anything to fear. Kawasaki disease is normally triggered by viruses. Covid-19 is a virus, therefore it can cause this to happen.

As I stated in the op my issue is 100% with the reporting. I should not have to dig up the hospital press release to find the basic truth of the story. That sort of headline is for maximum fear. I’m aware of Kawasaki disease but the story is reported in a sneaky way

I hope this was a misquote because a doctor saying that sentence verbatim is more shocking than the egregious headline.

It is caused by other viruses is all I'm saying.

Fox 8 is all I watch for local because I find it the least- terrible....and it’s still bad. Ole Lee Zurik was once a great investigative journalist...now I find his stories just idiotic when there are obvious bigger scandals going on. It’s hard to watch, as what they report is always 3 steps behind what’s really going down.

Mr. Bongino is right. The media tells you “a” story, not “the” story. And they tell some whales on fox 8 New Orleans.

I looked it up. The Mayo Clinic says:

quote:

No one knows what causes Kawasaki disease, but scientists don't believe the disease is contagious from person to person. A number of theories link the disease to bacteria, viruses or other environmental factors, but none has been proved. Certain genes may make your child more likely to get Kawasaki disease.

Since it is obviously caused by viruses, they should really update their website from 6 months ago, I suppose.

Is this medical terminology?

Kawasaki disease

My daughter was diagnosed with Kawasaki disease in the late 1990s. Was that caused by Covid19 too?
