quote:

Senator Lindsey Graham said Thursday that any attempt by President Trump to remove special counsel Robert Mueller “could be the beginning of the end of the Trump presidency,”

quote:

Graham said he intends to introduce his bill next week with the support of “all” the Democrats and some Republicans. It would require “judicial review” if a special counsel is fired while investigating the president or his staff. “Judges will have to look and see if the reasons stated meet the statutory definitions,” he said.

quote:

“If Jeff Sessions is fired,” he added, “there will be holy hell to pay.”

I don't see why anyone would oppose this.

Don't you need a Constitutional Amendment to change the powers of the President?

So of course this means it goes straight to the supreme court right?

Lindsey Graham has made a living supporting the Executive Branch's expansion of war powers and surveillance authority. Now he wants to limit the President's authority to fire his Deputy AG so this Russia investigation can proceed ad infinitum. What a hypocrite.

Why do you post stupid stuff like this, it really just hurts your agenda.

So that Bill would need to become law, which means the House would need to approve it and Trump would need to sign it.

So much #winning from the left.

Trump is obviously not going to sign such a bill. If he fires Mueller it's all over anyway; he's done.

Actually a pretty decent idea considering checks and balances and separation of powers.

However, I know it will be downvoted to death here because it doesn't give carte blanche to the Emperor.

I may be a little off here, but ummmm, wouldn't Trump have to sign this bill into law?

"it's all over" meaning bad optics? yeah.

but you are right, he will never sign it....plus it's clear that Trump does not care about any optics

I think this Russia thing is a BS political witch hunt personally, but he by no means needs to even consider firing Mueller under any scenario at this point.

There was a great analysis on Rush this morn; Trump should order Sessions to instruct Meuller to stay within Regulatory Code parameters re the SPECIFIC CRIME upon which His (Meuller's) investigative authority was based. There is no crime!

Sessions can then appoint another SP to round up the Dems who are guilty of real collusion/election tampering.

Just a matter of time.

He'd veto it. And then the veto will be overridden.

Ask yourself why he would veto this bill.

Previous Independent Counsel law was on the books from the 70's to 90's and was upheld by the USSC 7-1 and this seems to be something similar pertaining to just one investigation so I presume this would be kosher.
