Let’s talk the Patriot Act and USA Freedom Act

I did a quick search and wiki says it’s coming up for renewal this year.
How can anyone support renewal without finding out how the intelligence community used its surveillance powers against the Trump campaign? If they can do this to Trump and a presidential campaign, they can (and apparently will) do it to any American or group of Americans.

They will do it with or without the patriot act

Trump's weakness is civil liberties. He means well but it's like a generational thing because they don't understand tech well.

That’s fine, don’t renew the law then. That way there is no legal framework for them to work around.

The degree to which we are monitored (though, as of yet, not controlled) would make Orwell blush in his naivete.
Of course, there isn't some spook poring over your daily activities, calls, posts, etc., all the time, but you damn sure better bet that if you become a person of "interest" or potential influence, there is a big ol' file of data available in a warehouse in Utah to be used for leverage.

Section 702 and broader FISA were passed last year and signed into law by trump.
