LSS, I see the Trump administration using everything it has to support coal, which would otherwise die because natural gas is so cheap.

So for the true conservative Trump supporters, particularly those from gas-producing states, what do you think about that?

I look at coal in two ways:

1) part of the "All of the Above" strategy.

2) Why else is it on this earth? And, a lot of it? I look at coal the same way that I look at cows, pigs, and chickens...there for only 1 purpose.

Most people don't know this ... but, we mine coal in North LA ... and have for decades.

I'm for less regulations and opening up coal exports. That's what Trump is doing. If coal can compete with natural gas under the same rules and same ball field then God bless'm.

I think it's always better to put four new tires at once on your car as opposed to one, two or three. That way they wear even instead of putting extra stress on ones you wouldn't have replaced. I hope you understand.

There are some huge lignite mines in NWLA and NETX. It's very impressive to see how they mine it and replace the land after completing an area.

True. But coal in LA and TX is a tiny, tiny fraction of the revenue brought in by natural gas.

The abundance of natural gas is making it difficult to justify burning coal. Our company sources and sells coal and coke quite often but several countries are making it harder and harder for solid fuels to be their main source of power. Egypt for example was using NG to power their cement kilns, then the government cut the subsidies so they moved to solid fuels. Well, now with the recent developments and new finds offshore Egypt which are rich in NG, they are moving back to NG

My guess is that you are correct, but I did not like the way the Obama administration attempted to make this happen rather than letting it happen. I have been critical of Trump about many things, but I think his administration has had it correct (or very nearly so) with their coal policy.

The one question everyone needs to ask themselves is would you want a coal burning power plant built in your backyard? Trump is propping up coal through government intervention aka big government. Something that no one should be for

Your premise is wrong right out of the gate. Coal is a global commodity and it is very popular. Just in China they will increase coal consumption by 2.5X through the year 2030.

You literally have zero knowledge at all on this subject.

Removing regulations that were prematurely killing an industry is now "big government"?

The truth is Natural Gas is only cheaper if you don't consider transport costs. The U.S. has the most advanced pipeline network in the world and it is easy to move Natural Gas.

Pipelines cost a fortune. Most countries don't have anywhere close to the capability of moving Natural Gas in pipelines. The cost to build pipelines and compressor stations is enormous.

Just about every shithole country has trains. Trains move about 99.99% of the global coal. These idiots that talk about how cheap Natural Gas is don't seem to understand it is only cheaper in the U.S. and a handful of countries in Europe because of existing pipelines and a pipeline network.

So many misinformed liberals on this subject.
