For those that scream a positive Covid test is a death sentence and we ALL need to remain socially isolated, around 80% of all deaths are those 70 and older. 90% are those 60 and older. Think about that.

Look at the numbers. Age and co-morbidity. Age and co-morbidity. Age and co-morbidity. Healthy people under 60 don't die from this. Most of them never even know they're sick. We need to watch out for the people who are at risk from this. It's a very small number. It's not worth murdering our economy over. We know who is at risk and we know how to protect them. The rest of us should be allowed to get back to our normal routines.

I haven’t heard about Italy in a long time. Not that I’ve been looking that hard, though. I used to not need to look so hard for news about them.

Are we still two weeks behind Italy?

Here’s some more data, what does it say? Old people are the ones at risk and those with underlying conditions. I’m not saying this a hoax and I think that kind of talk isn’t helpful, but damn we need to get our head on straight about the actual risk involved here,

The Italian secretary of health has said that there have been at least 15 unreported cases for every reported case. Divide those rates by 15. Maybe less for older, more for younger.

I don't think you are reading the first graph correctly. Those are death rates not percentage of deaths.

Look at the numbers who die without a comorbidity in the Link provided by DavidTheGnome.

They are extremely low even for old people.

Covid 19 alone is not very dangerous, it seems to kill those who are about to die from something else a little quicker.

You’re right although my point still stands.

Yes and no. This may be more of an indication that older people have comorbidities. Over 60% of people over 65 have hypertension.

Is this supposed to be a "gotcha"?

If 70% (needed for herd immunity) of our 60+ population had a 90% chance of dying, you don't think that would do irreparable damage to the economy? That would come out to about 63% of all 60+ dying.

You guys really just need to have someone you know die until you take this seriously, don't you?

What?

Who exactly do you think has a 90% chance of dying?

I thought the same thing so I searched for Italy coronavirus. The NYT had a misleading headline(imagine that)stating Italy had a death spike today up to 494 from like 292 the day before. Come to find out either Lombardy or Tuscany(can't remember which) dumped a bunch of deaths over a month old. In reality, Italy had like 192 deaths which is their lowest total since the first week of March. Good ol' mainstream media. Keep leading, or should I say misleading, the virus charge.

Go to Walmart and have your Subaru oil changed, Karen. Don’t forget your face mask.

Yesterday’s number was 174. Trending downward.

I feel like I know exactly where you got your professional level understanding of "herd immunity" because I was sent a link by someone on 4/6 who said practically the same thing you said. You're both wrong but you're also a twat.

You are confusing “90% of fatalities are over a certain age” with “90% of people over a certain age will die if they catch COVID”

The two statements are radically different. There isn’t a single age cohort, go as high as you want, where the majority of people catching COVID die.

It’s a scary deadly disease and isn’t a hoax, but you’re misunderstanding these data.

Good. Hopefully our deaths are at 147/day * 5 (population difference?) by then.
