Let’s have an honest discussion about opiates
Posted by baybeefeetz on 7/15/19 at 9:18 pm716
They’re pretty awesome. Well, your basic Percocets and oxycodone are. Don’t know beyond that. I really enjoyed that warm fuzzy feeling at bedtime but noticed as the vasectomy healed that it was less and less enjoyable. Tolerance, I guess.
I think I benefitted long-term from taking them. I taught myself a kind of meditation where the point is to replicate that feeling.
Those of you who have been or are addicted: how do you describe the good times taking them? Also to addicts: do you believe some people just never would be addicted to them?
Did any of you not get hooked but kind of had an affair with them and moved on easily?
For the record, not using. Only had them for said vasectomy a couple years ago and years before for a broken hand. I was just thinking of it because I had a shot of whiskey and am already regretting it. Alcohol is shite. So is weed, IMO.

Opiates are the devil. Thank open boarders for counting the abuse

Well there is the theory that because this epidemic hit whites the hardest it’s received an empathetic response.

Never used them because I knew I'd like it.

I RAd to have this moved to another board.
But if y’all want to talk about it, fine with me.
That Rowan’s Creek tastes good, though. Very good.

It’s easier to have empathy for people who are for the most part only hurting themselves
People shooting each other over who owns a particular street corner are a little more challenged to pull at your heart strings
Your theory kind of sucks

It ain’t my theory, and you make a great point.
How did you get that that was MY theory? Wtf.

I was a raging cokehead for a decade. Because of that, I have never touched a pain pill due to a fear of addiction. And if I did opiates like I did coke, I'd be dead.

Had some after shoulder surgery and liked it. A lot. Had to ween myself off. I have great will power, so it wasn’t that hard. I can see where weaker people would become addicted.
I still don’t have much sympathy for drug addicts. I have seen very few hardcore addicts recover and lead any type of productive life. At some point their minds are fried to where they might as well just stay on the drugs.
My brother is that way.

My least favorite downer. I hate uppers and I'd rather cocaine.

I stay far away. I know damn well I could get addicted.

I hate them, had them several times. I just had a vasectomy on the 8th. No pain medicine, actually it's pretty amazing. I don't hurt at all.

I was prescribed hydrocodone following a discectomy/fusion. Surgeon said the disc had "shattered" and he had to manipulate the affected nerve quite a bit to remove all the pieces. Consequently there was a good chance I would feel worse for about a month. He was right.
First prescription was for 2 weeks.....I was still in considerable pain so they gave me another 2 weeks of hydrocodone. At the end of the second two weeks, I was still miserable. They said no more hydrocodone, take tylenol. Two days later the pain was essentially gone.
Weird..2 days earlier that pain was real.

That's because they don't relieve the pain, they just frick you up so you forget about the pain. Which tends to make you do things that inflame the pain. They are essentially placebos in the form of recreational drugs.

Made me feel horrible when I was prescribed following a surgery so I couldn't wait to get off of it, and did so early (and I was definitely in some pain for a few weeks). Guess I'm fortunate to not be predisposed to liking it.
