Leftist policies always sound great until you ask them one question
And that question (whether it be free healthcare, UBI, $15 minimum wage, free college, etc. etc.) is a variation of: “how will we pay for it?”

The answer is, whether they’ll admit to it or not, the last four words in that question.

Legalize marijuana... answer, will pay for itself. I found 1, and that's likely their only one

Nearly every single study puts Medicare-for-all at 3.2-3.4 trillion per year for the next ten years. Total revenue per year over the next 10 years is projected between 4.1-5.5 trillion.

It’s as realistic as a unicorn.

Their solution is to lower the quality of care and ration it out in a way that creates deathlists.

Not to mention the number of people Medicare for all will put out of work.

Remember the "death panels?"

Legalize marijuana...

It's bewildering how this hasn't been done at the federal level yet

At least they'd be able to put an excise tax on the commercial stuff

I remember when Cali thought marijuana legalization would bring in all this money, and it hasn't brought in a fraction of what they thought.

It only works in theory and has never worked in reality.
It's also predicated on the concept that everyone works hard, and is a contributing member of society.

As soon as laziness starts to take effect, there are two solutions.
1. Let the system collapse.
2. Start killing people to motivate them.

Either way, the rude awakening for most communist and socialist supporters is that they wont be part of the oligarchy, and instead will be part of the serfs. Not a pretty picture when they realize they too shall suffer.

We're 3 years in, brought in almost 300 million per year, give or take? Their particular problem is everyone already has medical cards from 96 until jan 2017, quite the headstart. Do it in a state like Louisiana and corner the tax dollar market for marijuana. People won't bother with medical if they can just go buy it.

free college

I could get behind this if it was merit and not financial based.

In other words the people most likely to suceed get free college.

The loss of life would only put more strain on those of us that would pay.

We have that already. It's called a Scholarship.

Because they believe their job is to get elected not to govern so they just lie and make empty promises. It’s always been their platform.

Change we to you and I agree.

Socialism works wonders until you run out of other people's money to spend.

Well, that's not entirely true. Almost all western nations have something similar to Medicare for all. America would no doubt frick it all up though.

True, but it still makes great revenue. The feds should allow the states to decide on marijuana.

Need based scholarships are not what I am talking about.

I am basically saying eliminate need based aid and tuition and give whoever gets in a free ride.

Thats a different angle than free college for everyone.

re: Leftist policies always sound great until you ask them one question
Why can’t anyone articulate what problem is that Democrats are trying to solve for healthcare?

Is it cost of care? Drug cost? Access? What are the missed requirements we are trying to solve for?

There is way to expand Medicare to all without rationing health care and creating a system to determine if people are allowed the care they need. That’s a big, expensive endeavor that will have its own access and cost problems.

Doing that will create a “two tiered” health care system similar to the worst education systems in 3rd tier US cities. One shitty public system for the poor. One very expensive private system for everyone else, who will have to pay for their health care and for the shitty public system.

Doing that while banning private insurance (Sanders Plan) legitimately fricks up heath care for everyone. That is about control, not about solving any real or perceived problem.

Our current system is better. It’s not perfect, but it’s the best one out there now.
