Because I think the bakers shouldn't have to be involved with spreading ideas or symbols etc that they don't want to

It's a fundamental, consistent ideology

Yes. But the baker says "hey, I CAN AND WILL moderate what I produce"

Legally speaking, as you'll see in my prior link, the internet companies have taken the position that they CANNOT and, the law largely SUPPORTS them on this.

And, honestly, as I said, due to what they do, I have pretty much AGREED with the tech giant argument on why they should be largely immune.

But they damned sure shouldn't get to be immune AND selective!

They literally have terms of service that users must agree to when the user volunteers to use their platform

They have a right to enforce those terms pretty much however they see fit

Do you believe they shouldn't be able to do that?

Who should dictate their terms of service to them?

Yep. But please at least tell me you read the NPR link.

quote:

Do you believe they shouldn't be able to do that?

Yes, if that's the desire. They most certainly should be able to.

Alas, it actually is NOT their desire. Hence, why I provided you the link and mentioned that your focus should not be on what they block, but on what they do NOT block.

Because you see, they want to be able to CONTINUE to not block that shite and the only reason they are successful in that endeavor is because of the legal situation afforded them.

My point is simple. If you eliminate that protection, the govt won't have to do jack shite after that. They'll stop their ideological moderation on their own...........IMMEDIATELY!

And if you eliminate the baker's protection, they'll be baking up dildo cakes for idiots

Huh?

The baker actually WANTS to moderate his work.

Are you even reading to be informed, or just to respond?

TERMS OF SERVICE

Take away any federal protection, and the TERMS OF SERVICE just change however they need it to change

TERMS OF SERVICE

It's like you're just willfully not reading.

The baker says he's a content producer.

The platforms want to be treated like platforms(see the frickING NPR LINK FOR CHRISSAKE!) while having the privileges of a content producer)

Good fricking God man. This is why no one typically wastes their time with you. You just ignore shite that's inconvenient. Are you fricking seriously saying you can't comprehend the NPR article?

The point is, they don't want this.

They WANT the fed protections because a LOT of what they WANT to allow would get their asses sued but doesn't right now.

Let's say they are doing that.. What's the crime? Wouldn't that mean the bakers are censoring?

Didn't say it was a crime, i said it looked like censoring of political/ideological ideas masquerading as unbiased moderating "to protect the community".

The bakers are simply practicing their religious beliefs as guaranteed under the Establishment Clause of the Constitution.

I hope this guy has great business. unfortunately, from the outside, with all these widely publicized attacks, it seems very much like the locals don't want him in business at all.

online platforms can't be sued for something posted by a user — and that remains true even if they act a little like publishers, by moderating posts or setting specific standards.

From your article

There's no either/or going on there

"Can't be sued" is such a dumb thing to say, btw

They're being sued right now

re: law suit against the cake baker filed. "Won't bake a cake for Satan's birthday"
It's really, really simple..

You either believe Facebook et al should be forced to associate with and host every single thing posted to their platform, or you believe they shouldn't

There's really no in between

Do you believe in freedom of association for private entities or not?
