What were the crime and economic trends in New Orleans over his tenure? Honest question because I don’t know.
The tone of this board would have me believe both were really negative. If that is the case how could he possibly think he could win? His record would be shoved down his throat constantly and I don’t see how he could defend it.
I know every time I come to New Orleans it seems worse and worse.

Yeah I thought so.
I grew up and still live around Memphis so I’m used to similar demographics, also work in a town that is 80% black. New Orleans over the last few years is the only place I’ve ever been that truly makes me feel nervous at times. It just seems like a different breed of criminal.

The violence isn't contained in any one area which makes it worse. That and knowing NOPD has about zero deterrence effect and will get there 40 minutes after the crime

I didn't even bother to report when my car was broken into in the LGD. What's the point? I would waste a couple hours of my time waiting on NOPD to arrive and do nothing.

I had my wallet lifted in the Quarter about 15 years ago. When I naively went to the police station to report it, their attitude was literally “what do you want us to do about it?”.
NOPD is worse than useless.
