Hey Toddy,

Good faith question- will all the foolishness of the far left caused you to change your mind on how you vote?

They have obviously crossed a line with you, can you vote Democrat when you heard the Speaker of the House say things like people will do what they do?

She sounds like a fine Southern lady. Your daughter WILL LOVE the experience as it still has remnants of what it once was. But that mystique, which was in no doubt responsible for the school having by FAR, the largest percentage of out of state students of any school in the SEC (save Vanderbilt), has been crippled to the point of just watching it finally meet its death. When I was there, at least 50% were from other states- offspring of loyal alums and from many other families wanting their kids to have the Ole Miss experience. It's only very recently that Alabama suppressed us in oos undergrads.

You should tell your daughter if she cares to learn about what made that school so great, she should make an attempt to learn it's history. Learn who saved and scrimped, to put that monument up. The faculty, the dead boy's parents. Indeed some of her sorority sisters of long ago if shes a DG, Chi O, and a few others. And finally, you should let her know she will be complicit in seeing the final nails driven into int's coffin because of her support of those intent to destroy it. One of their leaders has already tweeted the "Rebels" nickname will be the next thing to be attacked and they no doubt will succeed if she and "her friends" sit idly by and allow it to happen.

I will research that -- and for the record she's DDD. She said that "Rebels" doesn't seem to be an issue?? I did make the suggestion that if she wants ANYTHING with Ole Miss Rebs/Rebels on it she better buy it NOW.

She talked about how "some rich person" wants to donate 1.5 million to the cemetery -- "why don't they donate that to xyz?" she said. I told her it was THEIR money and they could direct it where they wanted. Perhaps it is a descendant of someone buried there -- perhaps it's a professor who loves history and wants to see it preserved -- perhaps it's someone who just loves Oxford who doesn't share the opinions of those who don't want it. She commented well then why are they doing it anonymously and they should make it known who donated the money. I had another "it's their money and they can do what they want" comment.

She's young, although mature in some ways but yet impressionable. I think she's just exposed to more people and seeing/hearing more opinions and thoughts which is what growing up is about. At one point in our discussions with me, her and her dad, she started crying ... I'm super torn between I don't want my daughter to hate us but if our views are different they're different. It's part of being an adult and agreeing to disagree. Neither stance makes us bad people. Again, I just pray that she remains true to the core values that we taught her -- and that she learns to differentiate fact/opinion and deciphers things for herself.

OK I'm off to have a drink as I think our governor is putting us all in mandatory masks and back to phase 1 at 2:30. Lord help me.

I have always been an LSU fan, but have appreciated OM and what it represented.

We have 3 kids and they have attended 3 different colleges; LSU, ULL, OM. I can't say I've been disappointed in the actual school or anything so far. What's going on there is going on everywhere and I think it's part of them figuring out who they are. That said, I hope I like who she figures out who she is.

If you're in Louisiana as your location suggests, if your kid makes a 32 on the ACT, fyi, you're looking at about $1000 in tuition after schollys plus living expenses. My daughter is an Ole Miss Ambassador and gives tours for interested students. She really loves it there .. she wanted "away" and while I'm not keen on her being 7 hours away, we weren't going to say no. Not my life to live.

Good luck!

Thank you again for sharing all of this. If she is DDD, I know she is a fine young lady from a fine family. The majority of Ole Miss alums from my hometown are DDD (and DG). I can count half a dozen or so right now that are in the chapter. You probably already know the DDD chapter at Ole Miss is one of the most difficult of all (I'm talking in the entire nation) for a young lady to receive a bid. Even more so being from out of state. One of my oldest and dearest friends was a DDD (as were her aunts, mother, and grandmother) and she is as distraught about all of this as me. I do hope she will listen to some of what you've said and not be influenced by those, especially some of the faculty, who parrot out nonsense, and quite frankly, lies about so much of the place, and learn the truth before it's too late.

I appreciate you saying that and not knocking me as a parent or her as a young lady. I'm good with her staying open minded and she will be who she will be -- a person can't develop into who I/we want her to be although we certainly can add input/things for her to think about. She's majoring in IMC and just added PPL and the Lott Institute -- IDK much about it BUT she's good and has to figure these things out for herself.

DDD was her first choice even before recruitment due to their philanthropy. Her goal is to work for ALSAC, the fundraising division of St. Jude and has supported St. Jude for 4 years prior to this. She knew a handful of people going into recruitment -- people are shocked that she got "into that house" as she was from oos. I too feel it says a lot about her as she had no tie ins. She loves her people for sure.

I'm gonna go and have a good cry now ... this is all just overwhelming. Covid. Racism issues. Catholic church issues where I live. It's too much for my little brain.

No. I lived in Atlanta for years before returning to take care of an aging parent. I do live in a town in North Mississippi that has deep Ole Miss roots and travel to Oxford frequently. I have friends that live in Oxford so I keep up with what's happening from them and others from my home town still heavily involved with the school. I'm happy for you and her that she is enjoying her time there. Ole Miss has been ingrained in me and others from here since birth so it's very hard to watch what has occurred these past years. Do tell her it is with absolute certainty the attack on the "Rebels" nickname is coming. It's always been declared after one tradition was wiped out that that "would be it", and of course, that has never been the case. If they are successful with changing the "rebels", it will turn to the last thing standing. The name "Ole Miss" itself. The Marxists and trash that hate the school loathe the fact that the school, is (was) so revered that it's the only school in the nation universally known more by a beloved informal nickname than it's formal name. Now I want to have a good cry.

One last thing. You're obviously a good parent with a great daughter. And
I understand her naivete and supporting the monument relocation because she doesn't want to hurt her friends. If these "friends" are also some of the ones who spearheaded this cultural purge -because let's be honest that's what it is and it was made apparent to everyone after the way they acted about the relocation plans and improvement to the cemetery--she should be wary.

I have connections with some who are well established in the OU community and what they said would happen when the assault on Ole Miss began years ago has proven to be correct, even down to some of the sequence of events.

It's always been assumed any attacks on the sororities would not happen until after their ultimate goal is reached..forcing the university to formally disassociate itself from the "Ole Miss" moniker and all references to it taken down, including banners, signs, and of course, of all sports uniforms and such. It's been more beneficial for achieving their objectives to use kids such as your well-meaning and sincere daughter for public support of their causes. With the BLM terrorists apparently confident of their newfound power and the benefits it provides their fellow adherents in the collegiate world, it might happen sooner than thought. These "friends" your daughter is supporting will turn on her in a heartbeat. They hate what she represents in their eyes. They see a girl, from a "privileged background " exerting her privilege, and by extension enforcing their "oppression" with her status of being in a sorority- a top tier one at that -one of whose letters they will never wear. They absolutely WILL at the opportune time begin an attack on those big columned houses on sorority row. What better way to continue the hollowing out of the school but by attacking the sororities (famous in their own right among the nation's greek organizations) and the social hierarchy within? She will have to explain why there are no POC in DDD or why so few. She will be expected to renounce the "racist actions" and "systemic racism" her house is committing or else. They will attempt to divide the alumnae and the undergrads; anything to weaken it and diminish its brand if they can't outright destroy it.

She should be careful not to assume any public actions she's done that have pleased them in the past will matter. It absolutely will not. The incident at Alabama will look like amateur hour compared to the scene they will attempt at Ole Miss.

Not saying any of this out of malice or to cause worry. I mean this with complete sincerity. It is not a far fetched notion this happens while she is still an undergrad, and should only be mindful of that possibility.

Thanks for some history lessons you’ve given me in this thread and for your strength as a Mississippian. With people like you representing our school and the significant “goodness’ in its students and alums, I’m still hopeful it’s legacy of quality education, inclusion and family will remain intact.

Attacks on sororities??? Like what??? And what "The incident at Alabama will look like amateur hour compared to the scene they will attempt at Ole Miss"?????

I don't think Toddy that she has any that "started" this and some I KNOW don't know what they're supporting. I flat out asked her how many black friends do you have, expecting her to rattle off LOTS of names (not that I cared what the number was). 4. Not that I care but I was curious. She has one black sorority sister whom I've met (super sweet or seems to be based on a super short time with her) and 2 others at OM and the last is a friend from high school connections who is at Jones.

That said, I just will continue to encourage her to be open minded, but careful; not to judge books by their covers; and just be a flat out good person. I mean, isn't that how we're supposed to live?

Toddy, everyone who is Greek(I was Greek in college) should read what you just said. The SJW's are going to dismantle the entire Greek system in time. You just detailed how they are going to do it. It is coming like a freight train & everyone needs to know who to trust & who not to trust.
