Today marks the start of the last regular session of this term.
LINK
How will they be earning their per diems? By talking about...
Mary Jane
School funding, teacher raises, early childhood
Sports betting / fantasy sports
Juvenile criminal Justice
Animal abuse
Foster Care
Pay Increases for judges, sheriffs, DAs
What to do if Obamacare gets tossed
What they should be working on:
Roads and bridges
Tax Structure
Higher ed restructuring
Anyone want to make any predictions as to what they do in session this year?

Lots of crying about spending and taxes from people who were Democrats as recently as 2006.

Centralizing sales tax receipts is on the agenda. That will make us the 49th state to do so. Hopefully it happens.

If they do not pass sports betting I’m officially giving up

Increase taxes without cutting any spending
Do nothing at all to attract new business to the state
Some kind of bullshite virtue signaling
Refuse to legalize marijuana, sports betting, etc... While continually moaning about needing money.

They also have a lot of "nieces" to visit over at the Penthouse.

Does this mean like how Texas does it (all receipts come to the state and then gets sent back out to the local governments)?

You have to figure the Casino lobby is putting heavy pressure this go around. Biloxi is going to cause Lake Charles, Shreveport, and maybe Harrahs a lot of problems in the fall going forward.

Is this where JBE is going to bribe teachers into supporting him with a massive pay raise that will do nothing to improve education in Louisiana?

The whole legislature is a dumpster fire
RINOs and redneck "conservatives" who run on meaningless shite like family values are far more common than Republicans who have the drive to make meaningful changes to the state.

That would be the idea, but the bill will have to overcome parish patronage (read as parish do-nothing jobs will be lost), which almost never happens.

I don't think $1,000 per teacher before taxes is going to sway many votes. Besides, the vast majority of teachers vote liberal anyways.

A lot of them is going to be termed out this fall thanks to term limits.
The Statehouse is going to look very different next year.
Thank David Vitter for pushing that when he served in the legislature. That's one reason why they hated him so much.

and they'll be replaced by similar low IQ, self serving idiots.

It's not just that, it's also the fact that there are some subtle differences between what is taxed and what is exempt at the parish/city level and the state level. There are also some constitutional hurdles that must be met.
All of this can and should be done, it's a huge business simplification issue. But it's a project and LA isn't very good at dealing with complex issues, so I don't have a lot of faith here.

A whole lot of nothing for 55 days, and then they'll cram a whole bunch of terrible legislation together in the last 5 days and tell us they have no choice but to vote on it or the world will crumble.

I wonder how many will switch to the other chamber.
Very curious to see what happens in some of these open races.

I predict Lance Harris cries that he wants two places to live in Baton Rouge and gets the tax payers to pay for one of them while he owns another....
oh wait.
oh wait.
