After reading the post about the lawsuit against Kroger, I decided to checkout the Kroger website, and came across this:

“ALLYSHIP GUIDE”
quote:

ALLYSHIP GUIDE: FROM AWARENESS TO ADVOCACY

Injustice, bigotry and racism are deeply entrenched in the country we all love, and have been since its origination. The senseless and preventable murders of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor – and so many others, both names known and unknown – have reignited a deep, raw and unresolved pain and frustration among many, especially Black Americans.

Terms to KnowSocial Privilege - is a special, unearned advantage or entitlement, used to one's own benefit or to the detriment of others • White Privilege - is not the suggestion that white people have never struggled. Instead, white privilege should be viewed as a built-in advantage, separate from one’s level of income or effort • Systemic Racism - includes the policies and practices entrenched in established institutions, which result in the exclusion or promotion of designated groups • Ally (Active) - takes action and challenges the status quo • Agent (Enabler) - takes action to maintain the status quo of privilege and oppression • Fence-Sitter (Passive/Neutral) - reinforces the status quo • All Lives Matter - Black people certainly believe that every life and person matters. But what’s important to know is this saying is generally perceived as dismissive and unsupportive of the Black Lives Matter movement, which was formed to bring more attention to the brutality and injustices committed against Black men, women and children

Actions You Can Take Right NowDo not remain silent. Use your voice and platform to start and facilitate constructive conversations, whether that’s within your family, neighborhood or workplace. If someone makes a racist remark or shares their limited view, ask them why they feel that way • Demand justice by supporting online petitions and campaigns and contacting elected local, state and federal officials • Diversify your news sources and who you follow and engage with on social media • Make a financial contribution to a local or national organization, preferably Black-led, that is working for a more equitable America • Become more familiar with the Black experience by reading, watching and listening to content produced by Black people • Join a peaceful protest and stand in solidarity with the Black community • Vote in every election and support efforts to protect people’s right to vote (like volunteering for election protection or participating in get-out-the-vote activities) • Research the laws, budgets and policies that disproportionately and systemically affect Black communities and advocate accordingly • Support elected officials and candidates with agendas that support and uplift marginalized communities • Advocate to your local mayor and city council for a stronger Citizen/Civilian/Community Review Board Read: “How civilian review boards can further police accountability and improve community relations”

Remember when a person could simply go to work, do a job, and earn a living?

I pity the sane people who have to work in today’s Corporate America. Talk about oppression of the workers. They’re forced to accept lies as truth. If they don’t believe the narrative, don’t advocate, and don’t vote as prescribed, they’re considered to be “Agents (Enablers) maintaining the status quo of privilege and oppression”. Same thing if they’re silent. They’re told what to read, watch, and which charities they should contribute to. If their own beliefs and opinions are contrary to the corporate religion of Social Justice, Diversity & Inclusion, they must remain mute so as to not reveal their “heresy”, and jeopardize their livelihoods.

There is a Kroger less than a mile from my home. There is a WalMart grocery store two miles away and a Tom Thumb three miles away. Kroger can burn for all I care.

The Kroger closest to me had to shut down temporarily about a year ago because of rat infestation. They claimed to have cleaned the problem up but they are in a strip mall with several restaurants so good luck with that.

At first glance I thought Allyship was some kind of space vehicle.

My company (300k global employees, 30k in the US) is starting to really push this "be an Ally" shite hard too. They realistically expect me to buy in and pass on opportunity that would benefit me and my family for a black person, for no reason other than their skin color.

I'm not passing on anything to better provide for my kids for anyone.

Then you best stock up on some SJW flair.

Our company, we can’t have a call to discuss financial results without them dragging out a D&I person to talk to everyone.
We spent millions and millions on D&I YTD, then we had an awful 2nd Qtr. I know most did, but we underperformed against every one of our peers. Worrying about the wrong things. Makes me sick. I want to go to work and make money while these folks want to spend the day worrying over social causes. Might be time to start looking as I have little faith in the leadership right now.
Sad.

For decades, companies have included a “safety moment” at the start of meetings, training sessions, etc.. Now D&I moments are becoming common as well.

Most of the D&I hires at my company are gone within a year of their start. Either they underperform, or they act just as miserable in a place that tries to embrace them as they would in a "racist workplace".

As a kid in the service industry I was told one thing: the customer is always right. That about covers it, and then some.

Kroger also owns Safeway, Albertson's and Food4Less. We don't have Kroger in Bend, but we have 2 Safeways and 2 Albertson's. Both stores suck.Narrow aisles, limited selection, and their prices are at least 25% higher than for the same products at Walmart.

Unfortunately, you have to buy groceries somewhere. We're getting a Winco soon. Never shopped there before, but have great things about their selection and pricing.

Then why don't the athletes put the names of murdered children on their helmets or jerseys? Davell Gardner jr.? Secoriea Turner?

No, blm is about money.
