Kavanaugh should be conditionally confirmed

In no way should a last minute allegation be used as a political tool by a thinly-veiled partisan to thwart a democratic process. Hold the vote on “conditional” grounds instructing the members of the Senate Judiciary Committee that the recent allegation should not factor into their vote. And then hold a hearing in which accuser and accused both testify under oath. If the accuser refuses or her story changes under oath, he’s immediately sworn in.

You are giving this highly partisan stall tactic way too much legitimacy. It should be ignored and overlooked entirely.

The constitution does not recognize the Mulligan rule

We don't have time to amend the constitution.

It’s a serious allegation, so the accuser should be brought forth to testify under oath or else this tactic will continue to be employed in the future. Conditionally confirm him and then see if she maintains the story once it’s evident it can’t be used as a stall tactic anymore.

That's not how the senate works.

I’d prefer to see it ignored, but doing so does little from stopping this kind of behavior in the future. Let them both testify under oath and set a precedent that such a procedure can be used effectively. That should cause people to think twice about making unfounded accusations in the future. Simply ignore it and the Dems will be at it again next time.

SOOOOOOOO serious that nothing was said about it for 40 yrs........SOOOOOOOOOOOO serious that a sitting US Senator had a letter and sat on that for 3 months.........I'm sticking with it's not SOOOOOOOOO serious

I don’t mean “serious” to mean credible. I mean “serious” to mean, “You said it. Now come say it again under oath.”

Where in the constitution does it call for a nominee to be "conditionally confirmed?"

Personally I hope they put 1,000 mics in front of her and Brett can cross examine her.

What does that matter. People lie under oath all of the time.

Not even remotely.

Sure, but lying under oath to save your own hide is not the same as lying under oath solely to try to take someone down with an unfounded allegation. Let’s see how serious she is.

That picture looks about as good as the yearbook

It’s a serious allegation,
"It's not the nature of the evidence, but rather the seriousness of the charge." Anybody who votes to not confirm this man because of an allegation of the candidate when he was 17 years old needs his, or her, head examined.
