“ ... family very concerned.“

TMZ is one of those publications you just never know how to take.
Their headlines are so tabloid-esque, yet they’re usually correct.

Anyway, take this for what it’s worth:
quote:

Kanye West is in the throes of a serious bipolar episode, our Kanye sources say, and those around him are concerned it has impacted his decision-making and some of the things he's said in the last week ... sources close to Kanye tell TMZ.

Our Kanye sources tell us, he suffers a serious bout with his bipolar disorder, usually once a year ... and our sources say Kanye's in the midst of one now.

As you know, Ye announced he's running for president via Twitter over the weekend, and also did a rambling interview with Forbes ... which drew harsh criticism, confusion and concern.

Everytime he says or does something Democrats don't like it's another "bipolar episode"

And, by "family" they mean his 12th cousins twice removed, Shananiqua and RayRay, who have never actually met him but feel connected to him and a very real and personal way.

Democrat Media: Trump's showing signs of metal instability!

Normal People: What about Biden?

Democrat Media: You can't diagnose someone without a formal evaluation!!

Fox News article from 3 hours ago:

Kanye West tweets, deletes pro-life message showing 6-month-old fetuses after rant against Planned Parenthood
quote:

Forbes spoke to West from his ranch near Cody, Wyo., in what the magazine called “four rambling hours of interviews.” West, who says he’s been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, often referred to himself in the third person and claimed he was “one of the most powerful humans” although acknowledged there were “a lot of alien level superpowers.”

Someone correct me if Im wrong. But Bi-Polar doesn’t make you a whack job, right? Someone with bi-polar just moves from extremes - happy vs sad.

So mentioning alien level super powers would not be any indication of a bi-polar episode...? They’re just throwing whatever shite they can at the wall and hoping it sticks.

There are many different signs and symptoms—depends on the person and type of bipolar disorder.

Thoughts of delusion are not uncommon, as is rapid speech, agitation, and paranoia.

any manic depressive I have ever known never takes their meds. they either go apeshit like Kenye, use drugs in excess to buffer and OD, balance out and crash and they are okay with friends, or kill themselves.

No. People with real bi-polar also frequently move between controlled and lucid to delusional and paranoid. Think "manic," not sad.

Running for governor or president is the kind of thing a delusional bi-polar person may do. Recall Brittany Spears, who, in a manic episode, shaved her head and invited the paparazzi to move into her house and become her "boyfriends." Then she was interdicted by a court in California and her father was put in place as her curator.

I've worked in a mental health field and witnessed a lot of uncontrolled bi-polar people. When manic and off their meds, some can really fly deep into what looks more like schizophrenia. The fact that they can also cycle out of it is what makes them bi-polar. It can be a serious condition if unchecked.

And to be clear, people who are bi-polar and have it controlled can be very high functioning. I've known bi-polar physicians and lawyers. However, their staffs watch them and folks usually intervene pretty quickly when they start going off.

Gotcha, thanks for the breakdown. I suppose my misunderstanding comes from my limited experiences. The few I know with it being highly functioning.

Certainly manic at times, but not to the point of ever discussing pure fiction as reality.
