The folding of the flag and delivery to the family was very moving. I probably shouldn't have but for a brief time all I could think of are those scumbag nfl millionaires kneeling during the anthem. Fack'em all...

Get your shite together. What a weird place for your mind to wander during a funeral.

When I saw what they were doing, I saw my comrades dying on the ground in Cambodia, having being shot down in their helicopter, alive on the ground and not being able to get to them in time, I ask myself did they die for this, I don't know what I would say to them....

MLB is so much better - patriots in each dugout except for that lying Shaun King wannabe scrub for the Oakland Elephants

not really.... one of the things said to the widow (or next of kin) by the honor guard is "....and on behalf of a grateful nation..."

i could see how the OP's mind would have had that thought considering our current climate.

I just watched a movie called "Taking Chance"

Was a very interesting movie and noticed some dust entering my eyes a couple of times.

Iappreciate the vet's sacrifice, but those two things really aren't related.

Same with my f-i-l's full military funeral back in 2013. The 12 service people that arrived to participate were all business. F-i-l had been a Korean POW for thirty-eight months. Before the service at the cemetery started, I strolled over to them and asked them if they knew the history of the man they were going to honor. The black female Sgt. of the detail replied no. I told them, in a short way, about the Tiger marches, the fact that out of over 800 prisoners in his camp less than 200 made it back home.

Point being, as this young Sgt. handed my mother-in-law the folded flag, the Sgt. had tears in her eyes. My wife and I pretty much lost it when we saw this. Not exactly sure why, but we did. Maybe it was the fact that this one service person, a complete stranger, knew the sacrifice one brother in arms had sacrificed for survival.

You should at least charge them rent. They can afford it.

Big problem in America ^^^^^^^

Dissociation, it's why the islamists hate us, we blindly elect imperialists and sacrifice men, taxes and dispassionate responses, yet don't see the connection.

I am going to search for this movie and watch it tonight. Is it on PPV in old movies?

Did it offend you when they kneeled to hand the flag to the spouse?

If you have HBO the next showing is on Nov. 1 at 12:30pm on HBO Z and will be showing all November on the various HBO channels.

Good movie. Kevin Bacon has a great performance.
