If you’re going to go out for groceries today, don’t forget your ID! Otherwise you may not be able to purchase them.

Hell, I had to show my driver's license and give my SS number at an Alltel store the other day just to purchase a Wifi modem.

If you're paying for your groceries with a check or card (depending on the store), or if those groceries include alcohol...you will need to show ID.

You need ID to buy groceries when

1) you are buying alcohol
2) you are buying tobacco
3) you are using a credit card
4) you are using a check

So how was he wrong?

Not always. Walmart and Publix have the card reader facing you that doesn't require the cashier at all.

4) you are using a check

I wish these would go away.

I'm all for voters having an ID, but this is a dumb blanket statement to try to prove a point.

To my downvoter, you calling me a liar or are you just exhibiting your ignorance? I'll go with the latter. Congrats.

If you’re not buying 1 or 2.

And if your local supermarket hasn’t upgraded from the old imprint machine, I can’t help ya. I don’t have to show ID where I live. And the only person I know who still actually writes out checks is my grandmother.

Get with the times folks.

Edit: cigarettes are not groceries. I’ll give you alcohol.

Being a member to shop there... kind of like being a citizen to vote there.

Things you need an ID/Drivers License for:

Driving
Getting on an airplane
Any time I use a Debit/Credit card (*this SHOULD be the case, although most cashiers don’t ask)- Hence Trump’s comment-
Purchasing alcohol/tobacco
Cashing a check
Buying a gun
Getting certain prescriptions filled at the pharmacy
Buying some over the counter medicine (Sudafed)
Renting a car
Buying a car
Opening up a bank account

Getting into a bar
Sending/receiving money with Western Union
Renting an apartment/home (most cases that I have seen/heard of)
