Is it possible that this mother of this child in this lawsuit has engaged in a pattern of attempting to create an environment in which this child will develop in a way for which this mother has a specific desire? Yes, that is certainly possible. It may even be probable.

By that definition, however, my own mother is guilty of child abuse abuse for sticking books in my hand From the time I was able to control my fingers. She wanted an academic, and she said out to create one.

Further, my father is guilty of child abuse for sticking a football in my hand at the same age. He wanted an athlete, and he set out to create one.

Is it possible that this woman wanted a daughter and set out to create one? Yes, that is certainly possible.

If I were on her jury and saw evidence to that effect, she would lose. That fact, however, has very little if any bearing upon the broader policy question of whether the coercive power of government should be utilized to prevent parental decision making regarding the health and welfare of their own children.

I have to say that this forum is perhaps the only place in the world that a person could be called a Marxist for thinking that a government should keep its nose out of people‘s private decision making.
