Chattanooga just declared that made up bullshite, Juneteenth, a city holiday.
The taxpayers get to pay all city workers to stay home.
All this so White liberals can get their self-loathing credit for the week.

Its totally imaginary, like quanza.

Well, at least it is based on an actual event which did happen. Unlike Kwanzaa. Which has less legitimacy than Festivus

Juneteenth is a Texas holiday. It’s the day that news of the Emancipation Proclamation reached Galveston. Why it would be celebrated anywhere other than Texas is crazy.

I first heard on juneteenth when I moved with my first job to Texas in 93. Moving from Memphis, I thought I'd heard it all. Every year there is something, I don't know what, it's just "there" and didn't really bother me. When we moved to Georgia a few years ago, it was just gaining hold as "a thing" here. My black coworkers chuckled and said they never heard of it but if they gonna do up a BBQ for it, who are they to pass it up.
Everyday is a national or international something. It's just where we are now. Don't really care, but we don't need it to be a holiday.

It's not crazy, it's just plain stupid.

Juneteenth is their Father's Day.

Geez blacks, and virtue signaling cucked whites are a insufferable bunch.
Chattanooga deserves getting all the messicans dumped on them in the middle of the night.

Growing up in SE Texas, you couldn’t get your yard mowed, house cleaned, or even a grave dug on the week of Juneteenth.
If you raised chickens, watermelons, or anything else you had it ready by then. If you were lucky and blowfished and happen to luck out on a large gar, you could get a premium for it that week.
Good stuff!

LSU is not recognizing Memorial Day as a holiday, but Juneteenth is a holiday.

It’s odd that “Juneteenth” emerged as the event to celebrate, and not the date of the Emancipation Proclamation itself.
A national holiday to celebrate the liberation of the slaves is not a bad idea. It’s better than Arbor Day, or Presidents Day for that matter.

Will be a violent celebration this year. Very violent.

Oh, now you’re just being a contrarian.
Which is it, important or not?
You’re telling me that news of the EP being received in Galveston, TX is worthy of a celebration, but the EP is not?

I'd be OK ditching MLK day and replacing with this.

And the reason for that would be... what, exactly?
