I’m somewhat with you in general. I think the holiday itself is worthy.
I oppose the specific date chosen because it was inspired by a desire to be woke and pander as opposed to actually reflecting the end of slavery in the United States.

A small percentage of my income is residuals from some commercials I was in. All the major residual accounting firms send paper checks. It is kind of awesome when out of the blue you get a check for $1100 bucks on a Tuesday. The more federal holidays the less days when that awesome thing can happen.

I'm behind this idea 100%
I found out since the federal holiday is being honored friday for the gov employees and I work 10s and have fridays off and worked already today. I get a random vacation day to use in the next month when I get a chance. Gonna use it on my camping trip in two weeks.
