There's audio in the link.

quote:

Judge Moyé said she must see the errors of her ways and “understand that the society cannot function where one’s own belief in a concept of liberty permits you to flaunt your disdain for the rulings of duly elected officials.”

“That you owe an apology to the elected officials who you disrespected by flagrantly ignoring, and in one case defiling, their orders you now know obviously apply to you,” Moyé lectured.

The Judge told her all she had to do to avoid JAIL is to apologize and admit she was wrong and that SHE WAS BEING SELFISH!

What was her reply:

quote:

“I have to disagree with you sir when you that I’m selfish because feeding my kids is not selfish.”

“I have hairstylists that are going hungry because they’d rather feed their kids. So, sir, if you think the law is more important than kids getting fed then please go ahead with your decision but I am not going to shut the salon.”

God bless Texas???

ANd the video of her response

good for her.

Apologize?

You want me to apologize?

Okay...I'm sorry your parents raised you on a diet of lead paint chips and Flint tap water.

Another example of "the Law" getting in the way of Justice....

Seriously, between corrupt Judges and azzhole Lawyers, it's a wonder the people haven't burned the whole thing down.

I know of no law that allows the city to keep you from working in a fully licensed by the state business.

Dragging somebody to court to make them say I’m sorry.

The elected officials, that are still drawing their paychecks from the taxpayers?

To be fair, this wouldn't be an issue if these women had husbands who worked so they could stay at home and dedicate the time necessary to properly raise children.

That's obviously an ironic take

But probably not

Small business entrepreneur, kneel and kiss the ring on the finger of your King, the gubment!

I went to bed hot about this and woke up hot about it. Putting her in jail for 7 days is the closest we’ve come to the egregiousness of gun confiscation IMO. There may be other examples but this is the worst I’ve read.

Put her in jail and is fining her $500 per day.

quote:

In April, Salon Á la Mode owner Shelley Luther re-opened her hair salon in defiance of orders by the county that she remained closed, Breitbart Texas reported on April 25. “Every owner of every salon should use their own best judgement when to reopen,” the Texas governor said during a press conference that occurred at the same time the fine and jail sentence were announced in Dallas.

At this time, it is not clear what judge issued the contempt order that includes the seven-day jail sentence and the fine pf $500 per day.

Luther told WFAA ABC8 she is “prepared to take on whatever it is that comes with” re-opening her business. She said she had to choose between paying her lease or her mortgage this month because of the stay-at-home order.

“I don’t want to cause any problems, but when you’re out of money someone has to stand up and say that they’re not helping us by not letting us work,” she explained. Luther is unable to perform any of her three jobs — musician, makeup artist, and hairstylist — because of the lockdown of the county.

Now, according to the local CBS affiliate’s reporter, “whatever it is that comes with” is a seven-day jail term for contempt and a fine of $$500 per day.

“I’m behind on my mortgage,” she explained at the time. “I know a lot of my stylists haven’t paid their mortgage. It’s either come in and make money to be able to feed your family or stay home and freak out.”

“Obviously I don’t want anyone to get sick and I don’t want the virus to spread,” Luther continued. “It will be one of the safer places for people to go rather than going to Walmart or Home Depot.”

“I will not pay the fine,” the defiant salon owner told reporters in April.

And so far $3500 dollars.

I would imagine the State AG will step in.

I was so hot about them putting this law-abiding citizen in jail that I barely paid attention to the fine.

This will eventually get struck down of challenged, but legal fees will be way more than the fines.

7 days in jail can be pretty flippin traumatic to someone who has never been there. I’m making an assumption about her.

If I were the Sheriff I would let her go home at nights and sleep. The judge can’t stop that.
