Per his service last night. Spell’s FB mentioned they’d be making a joint statement tomorrow at noon. Bring your popcorn.

When Tony was on Dr. Phil last week he had a good argument: most of his followers are low-income and from other countries, with no internet access. One could make an argument for his situation. (And in Texas he would now be allowed to hold services with Gov. Abbott's revised order, allowing churches which can't meet online to meet in-person subject to social distancing guidelines.)

But to hire that clown Moore to represent you is simply bad optics.

Ok. If there was ever any minuscule shred of doubt that this guy was attention-whoring, there it went.

Tony Spell FB

This article mentions the church service last night where Spell mentioned he spoke to Moore and Moore offered to represent him pro bono.

Thanks, although I feel like I need to sanitize my PC and take a shower after reading all of that.

Of course Moore offered to represent him for free. Roy would rather get the publicity out of it and con others to "fund" his efforts.

He lives off donations for his never ending political campaigns. Things must be getting hard for him.

Good choice. Roy Moore has always been a small government advocate.

And it's a good bet those "legal services" he offers the pastor here will be the absolute bare minimum required, with the most lethargic effort ever.

But his face will be in front of a camera

Does the IRS allow donations from parishioners to pay legal fees of the pastor for a criminal citation?

How much you want to bet his house is a property of the church and doesn't pay taxes?

There will be a token suit filed but Roy will mainly regurgitate a bunch of nonsensical BS in front a camera.

I agree with the preacher's argument here but surprised he retained Roy Moore to represent him, Moore doesn't have any credibility in a courtroom anymore regardless who the judge is, dude's a complete joke

Still bad.

There are plenty of religious liberty groups who would take the case if they felt they had a good argument. And accepting Tony's story as true about his low-income congregation and their lack of internet access (remember, even libraries are closed, so that options off the table) would make a good case of violating First Amendment rights.

But to hire someone so extreme even the conservative leaning Alabama Supreme Court sanctioned him, simply makes him look like a fool. And since it's been implied that he's one of those "prosperity gospel" preachers, even worse optics.
