Judge bars citizenship question from 2020 Census
Associated Press
January 15, 2019

NEW YORK (AP) — A federal judge in New York has barred the Trump administration from adding a question about citizenship to the 2020 census.

U.S. District Judge Jesse Furman said Tuesday that while such a question would be constitutional, U.S. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross had added it arbitrarily and not followed proper procedure....

The decision won't be the final word on the matter....

The U.S. Supreme Court is also poised to address the issue in February.

He is only doing this:

quote:

U.S. District Judge Jesse Furman said Tuesday that while such a question would be constitutional

Because he knows it will get flipped here:

quote:

The U.S. Supreme Court is also poised to address the issue in February.

This is solely a move to get his name in the news.

I think that probably 95% of the people on this forum would agree that this question would be a constitutional inclusion on the census form.

At the same time, I suspect that 99% of the people on this forum (myself included) have absolutely no idea whatsoever as to whether the Secretary followed the appropriate statutory and regulatory guidelines were adding the question.

agreed. Trump comes for the business world, and he is accustomed to the comparatively unrestrained authority of a CEO. He simply cannot grasp that there are significant constraints upon his exercise of authority as POTUS

An establishment lover like you would be fond of an oppressive bureaucracy. Trump just wants to get shite done.

This single issue took essentially a novel to explain in its decision? fricking federal judges these days.

You say this as if Trump drafted this question on a piece of toilet paper while he was taking a dump and sent it over to the census bureau for inclusion on the 2020 census.

Has to be boilerplate with 95% fluff, or 274 pages of the decision is legal exerpts.
