Joy Reid: Dems Need to Stop Pining for White Trump Voters, Cater to Minorities

You hear that white people? The Democratic Party no longer wants/needs you. They want to cater to minorities...
"Sunday from Politicon in Pasadena, CA, MSNBC host Joy Reid was interviewed by the “Pod Save America” podcast and argued the Democratic Party should not try to win over white working class Donald Trump voters.
Reid said, “Democrats have all these things they want to do at the same time. They pine for the Trump voter who they think they can somehow talk into not voting for Donald Trump. You know ‘What did we do to you? How did we hurt you? If we can find some way to appease you will you come back to us please.’ You know I’m wearing a little LBJ pin. It has been really since the Lyndon Johnson era which was the last time the Democrats won white voters— a majority of the white voters. And they pine for those voters. So they have that problem. And then they want to figure out well how do we keep the active progressive voter that is really excited and really interested and really wants to be a part of politics? And you can’t really do both and also message to the base of the party which is largely people of color.”

That'll work well since the majority of Americans, 72% to be exact, are white.

Only if you count hispanics that identify themselves as "white." To be sure there are some white Hispanics out there (Marco Rubio for instance), but I am sure most of them that claim to be "white" aren't what the average white person would think to himself "yeah that's a white guy."
If you're talking good old Anglo whites, the number is about 60% and falling fast.

True, but it's missing the point. As the Democratic Party has moved farther and farther Left, they've lost more and more. Currently the GOP controls the White House, a large chunk of the House of Representatives, the Senate, SCOTUS, a large majority of state Governorships and a large majority of state legislatures.
With comments like the one mentioned in the OP and the recent(ish) comment from the new DNC chair about how anyone that is pro-life has no business in the Democratic Party (pro-life Democrats make up ~25% of the party's total membership), they are pushing away more voters at a time when they should be working to bring them back in.

This is true, I personally saw many life long democrat friends/family members refuse to vote for hillary. However, the same applies to the republican party. As the party moves more and more to the tea party extreme, they are beginning to lose more and more voters. Both republicans and democrats are starting to feel left behind by their respective party and are being pushed to the middle. It means there are more wild card voters and the next 2-4 years should be interesting.

My family and I have been registered Democrats for 120+ years. What an embarrassment to once a great party that once stood for small government, states rights, and liberty. Been hijacked full on by SJWs since the days of George McGovern.
