Jon Bel asked Rispone about what he would do if elected to insure equal pay for women.
I about fell out my chair.

Edwards cites stats that La. is last in equal pay for women, and asks Rispone what he plans to do about it.

How often do you hear an incumbent enumerate a problen during his term of and challenge his opponent to fix it?

And then when challenged about high insurance rates and La. being second to highest, Edwards defended the status quo and said he opposed the law to fix the problem because the legislation was being pushed by the insurance industry.

I’ll buy that, but we are still second to highest, and our governor has no solution. All he’s done is use his power and influence to keep the status quo.

I didnt watch, but, Rispone should have been able to take that false assertion and knock it out of the park. I bet he didnt.

He didn't, which is a huge gripe of mine. He should've been able to slam that one but instead he said "my company pays men and women the same" and JBE said something about him not addressing the entire state, and that he was running for governor of Louisiana, not governor of his company. What should've been a slam dunk for Eddie was a soundbite for JBE instead.

ETA: it should've gone "Mr. Governor, equal pay has been signed into law since JFK was president. If women, especially women of color, aren't being paid the same why are YOU asking me to do something that your government should have fixed? The law is there, your actions are not."

I’ll buy that,

You'll buy that? It was being pushed by insurance companies because it was a step in the right direction of lowering rates and handicapping the trial lawyers.

Why he didn't throw that back at him is beyond me.

I’d give someone a pass if he opposed a law promoted by the insurance industry if he thought it was a bad law; but I would expect him to have an alternative law that he thought were better.

My point is JBE opposed change to a big problem but has no solution of his own because reality is he likes the status quo.

It was too easy, must have caught Rispone off balance and he didn’t know what to say.

Exactly. I'm not one to hang all of the state's problems around his neck, because many have been the result of decades of incompetence, corruption, and voter apathy, but after four years he's shown me that he has no intention to make any substantial changes to solve them.

Exactly, when asked about our high insurance rates he had no answer.

I laughed pretty hard at that and was wondering why? It's like he didn't realize his leading question actually hurt his case. I pray Rispone wins and that an incumbent loses a runoff like every other time in the state's history. Please Louisiana, get this taxing us out the arse Democrat out of office. We can't compete with Texas even more because of this douche nozzle.

I wish Rispone had responded that the one thing he would do for women is not hire a serial sexual harasser to work in his office.

What has JBE done during his three years as governor?

In what area are competent professional women not paid the same as men? Or is Gov. Virtue Signaler asking Rispone what is he going to do to ensure the receptionist gets paid as much as the VP of a company simply because of her gender (which evidently is arbitrary)?

So he had no answer other than "muh insurance companies!" Classic.
