Really? The WHO was claiming this thing wasn't transmissible between humans as late as 14 January. According to media watchdogs, the first mention of coronavirus by Joe Scarborough wasn't until 18 January. And what were the media doing after Trump issued his temporary travel ban on China? Oh, yeah...they were downplaying the virus:

The media was following public statements, but multiple US senators dumped stocked after the Senate was briefed in January, and didn't bother to give the rest of us their hot stock tips (or seemingly discharge the duties to advance the public's readiness for this).
