Its a pun about him "splitting" with his party. I imagine its also supposed to show Donnelly can do work the average guy can do
However, as most pandering of this type goes, it looks like he doesn't know how to swing an axe link to commercial
He doesn't slide his top hand down at all, and his swing is awkward to say the least. Reminds me of how I swung an axe when I was a little kid (like 5 or 6) trying to be like my dad
I don't understand why they try to do stuff like this, when they come off looking like an arse who has 0 experience doing basic stuff. Its not gonna win votes
The safety glasses and gloves are also kinda funny

Yeah. Very rarely has he split with his party, but he's gotta try to save his seat (I don't think he will)
But the pandering, its just awful

I’m sure a Republican has never released an ad portraying himself as a regular working
guy. That’s hardly a novel concept for political campaigns.

Im not speaking solely for Democrats regarding this type of pandering. Politicians in general do this type of thing and it looks stupid AF. They shouldn't do it if they cant do it half way right, they just look foolish

He's wearing a girdle to keep that gut in check.

He should have chopped wood in front of a tank. Now that's convincing.

I see this commercial at least 5-7 times a day along with the one touting himself being a Trump guy.

If all you see are the TV commercials, you would think he is the staunchest supporter in the senate of the border wall and Trump in general. It's frustrating.

He's got a decent lead. The libertarian candidate will cost the Republicans this seat.

This ad is virtually identical to a fictitious ad shown on the show "Veep".

Donnelly's campaign manager is a big fan of that show. This was for the lulz, so don't take it too seriously.

This. I have no reason to believe that Braun will win. Donnelly's advertising has been effective.

Yes the video I linked to discusses that after showing Donnelly's ad.
Doesn't change the fact that his swing looks awful

I only think Braun will win because of how much the state went for Trump, and how red we normally are.
Donnelly could retain his seat

There’s no way he split that log that easily without it already being mostly split. Not with that form

BTW- When did chopping wood become the MSM way of showing that someone is a "Man"?

Look at him, Stan! He can chop some wood! Imma vote for that guy!

It was even worse in the original video he was imitating. Not sure I'd blame Donnelly for that.
