Carter was elected governor by campaigning with George Wallace and “smearing” Carl Sanders as being too close to blacks. he sent a flyer out with Sanders arm around a player for the Hawks—Sanders owned the Hawks. Sanders was a good governor.
Carter, the “good man”, was not above sucking up to the political powerful to get the power he wanted. He is thin skinned too.
