No where does JBE have a stronger machine than in Tangipahoa parish and he could not muster 50% of the vote.

His brother, an incumbent sheriff with virtually no competition in his race did not break 60%. I know two candidates that were scared to run against Edwards because of his war chest. Both would have beat if they had simply run.

No one was going to beat Daniel. He barely campaigned and still won. Arden has his minions, and Cameron had to work his arse off to get what he ended up with.

And as far as JBE goes, he will remain governor for another term.

No reason to name them and any body that says Daniel didn’t campaign is crazy.

The man had two opponents who combined didn’t spend $5000 and he still could not get to 60%.

Anybody with name recognition, particularly if a R would have beat him. Heck his brother the governor didn’t get 50% and nobody thinks him a criminal.

Layrisson made a mistake not running against Edwards this time because there will be fresh names on the ballot next election that will be hard for Layrisson or Edwards to beat. If Daniel decides to run again he is beat.

Corruption and incompetent management has caught up with him.

You really have no clue what you are talking about. Daniel will be Sheriff for as long as he wants to be. Cameron spent over $10,000.00. Arden spent very little. Daniel spent very little.

Ok we will see who knows what soon.

Do you think the sheriff will survive this last term or will he be dragged into one of the FBI investigations?

I don't know if he is corrupt but I know he has VERY poor management skills and every day that becomes more apparent. I know what would normally be considered Edwards allies in various offices that are very concerned about the operations of the sheriffs office.

You really are naive if you think an incumbent sheriff that can only manage 58% of the vote against two no name, no campaign opponents isn't in trouble in the next election. He got every vote he will ever get yesterday without significant positive changes in the operations of his department. He can't afford another investigation or scandal.

My opinion of course.

If Bry would have ran, he would have been crushed by Edwards, and I’m a Layrisson fan. IF something comes from the investigations then his office MIGHT be a get in 4 years. A large percentage of Edwards voters didn’t because they knew he didn’t stand a chance or being forced into a runoff. Daniel will remain Sheriff unless he is indicted, serves 5+ terms or he retires. Just like his dad Frank or like Eddie.

His numbers are moving solely because he barely spends campaign dollars, and he is a 16 year long Sheriff. People want terms limits, I for one am one of those people. That is another reason we see his numbers moving.

Arden isn’t a no name person. Every election he gains supports based on his ridiculous half information attacks on his political opponents. Cameron is well known in the area. Had he started earlier he may have been able to push him into a run off.

No, if there was anything in those investigations that have been going on for years, we would have seen something by now. I also want you to realize any. FBI investigation into the jail is due to the.S. O. requesting that assistance.

For the very little amount of tax dollars our sheriffs office receives, i believe it is operated as efficiently as it can be.

No reason to argue about hypotheticals.

The fact remains that 2200 more people voted yesterday than they did in 2015 and Daniel got 871 fewer votes.

42% of the voters voted against the piss poor management of the Sheriffs office. (Employees selling fraudulent bail bonds out of the office has noting to do with lack of funding and everything to do with management.)

Only 2600 people had to change their vote to beat him. How many thousand signs did he have out? his brother was on the top of the ballot and spending millions on TV and Daniel's total votes went down.

Daniel isn’t Jon Bel, and he has been in office longer than JBE.

I agree the bail bonds issue showed poor management, but they were caught, they are being prosecuted, and there has been leadership changes made inside of the jail. Such as Stuart Murphy is no longer the warden and has been moved to another position outside of the jail.

Again, more and more people are wanting term limits. That is another reason you are seeing a shift in the numbers. Hell, Randy Seal only got 53%.

Same here. The bad part is that the man is nuttier than a shithouse rat and directs a lot of mudslinging based on hearsay.

Layrisson was smart to stay as Chief of Police in Ponchatoula. It's a safe bet for him and the Edwards clan would make sure he got crushed in the polls.

Little Daniel Edwards will remain our sheriff for the foreseeable future unfortunately. Unless he is indicted, retires, or dies in office. To be honest, I'm surprised he bothered to put out signs unless they're just reusing the ones he has every four years.
