The last time US forces put something on the deck of a Japanese carrier named Kaga, it was a bomb at The Battle of Midway in 1942.
Strange times.

In March, the Abe government asked then-Marine commandant Gen. Robert Neller if the U.S. would consider deploying Marine F-35Bs from Izumo and Kaga, reported The Asahi Shimbun earlier this week.
Prompted by the request, the Marines are now standing up groups to determine the technical feasibility of deploying U.S. F-35s from the two ships ahead of the Japanese Self-Defense Force F-35Bs being fielded.
While the two ships were built with an eye toward STOVL fighter operations, the U.S. has to make an independent determination if their F-35s can operate on Izumo and Kaga.

They will also operate from the HMS Queen Elizabeth. Operational work ups. New platforms all around. So when the kimchi finally hits the fan, it will allow assets to be integrated and move seamlessly between platforms.

My paternal grandfather was a Dauntless gunner in VB-6 off the Big E in Midway!

CNN: IN an act reminiscent of Hitler and Nazi Germany, Trump has joined forces with Japan.

Was he Gay?
(Sorry, couldn't resist, he flew a TBD off the Hornet. But he was an aggie!)

Lol! Not that I know of but it WAS the Navy and technically he WAS a tail-gunner.
I think Ensign Gay was in VT-8.
Can’t imagine what they were feeling waiting on deck that morning.

Great news. Those are big ships

Say whatever else you want about them, but I would rather be on the Japanese side than fighting against them, if it is a viable choice.

Americans are oblivious to the degree of enthusiasm the average Japanese person on the street has for America . They are more pro- American than America is. Of course they don’t have Democrats.

I went to Japan back in 2003. I was speaking to my grandmother on the phone one day, telling her about the trip before I left. After a few minutes, she just said that the last time anyone in our family flew to Japan, they were bombing it.

I love the Japanese people. I wish Japan could rearm and build their military back again.

We need to give them back their katanas and tell them China is threatening to invade.

Strange was seeing Japanese ships in the port at Pearl Harbor during a VJ Day celebration in 1995.
