James Clapper, the director of national intelligence under former President Barack Obama, took a swipe at former CIA Director John Brennan on Sunday, saying that his former colleague’s anti-Trump rhetoric has become “an issue in and of itself.”
“Do you think that John Brennan’s hyperbole is an issue here, is one of the reasons we’re having this crisis?” CNN’s Jake Tapper asked Clapper during a panel discussion about President Donald Trump’s decision to revoke Brennan’s security clearance.
“I think it is,” said Clapper, a CNN analyst. “John is sort of like a freight train and he’s gonna say what’s on his mind.”
“John and his rhetoric have become an issue in and of itself,” he added.
Trump revoked Brennan’s security clearance on Wednesday.
“Historically, former heads of intelligence and law enforcement agencies have been allowed to retain access to classified information after their government service so that they can consult with their successors regarding matters about which they may have special insight and as a professional courtesy,” Trump said in a statement.

I'm still amazed that we had a whole few days of our media and Democratic Party arguing that a security clearance is a first amendment right. This experiment is not long for this world

Clapper is not changing his tune.
Clapper is positioning himself to gain credibility later for future attacks on trump. That’s all this is. Don’t read any more into it.

I disagree. He's creating distance. Last month he said this on CNN:
"If it weren't for President Obama, we might not have done the intelligence community assessment that we did that set off a whole sequence of events which are still unfolding today, notably, special counsel Mueller's investigation. President Obama is responsible for that, and it was he who tasked us to do that intelligence community assess in the first place. I think that's an important point when it comes to critiquing President Obama."

Clapper has said ridiculous things as well. His clearance needs to be pulled. Trump needs to pull all of them.

The rats are saying this stuff against Brennan to keep their clearances so they can continue undermining Trump and making $$$ leaking TS info... Ban them all.
No one needs Susan Rice and some of these other hacks having access.

Their security clearances are the last thing these people are concerned with.
Brennan's mouthing off like a jilted prom queen, and is drawing unnecessary attention to himself and his former conspirators.

Where have I been? This is the first time I have heard of a public statement like this.
Why is this not leading the news? POTUS involvement in initiating this witch hunt? and not ever being part of the post-shite-hits-the-fan narrative? From either side?
What am I missing here??
Conservatives have all suspected this all along - but it was all just supposition.

I know right, this is such a staggeringly naive take they tried to argue on the subject, as if all citizens that have 1st Amendment rights by extension should have security clearances as well as a part of that right?

Looks like the LA Times tried to break rank with their article yesterday about Mueller's waste of time. Sooner or later someone is going to want to stand apart though...someone/some entity unexpected and large in stature on the left side will step out then it will be on...
