The Lumumba Junta now rules Jackson, Mississippi. The City Council stood up to him on a no-bid garbage contract for Richard's Disposal. It rejected the contract on a 4-3 vote. Case closed, right? In fact, a Judge ruled last week the Mayor must present the contract to the Council and the Council must approve the contract otherwise the vendor won't get paid.

Well....... the Mayor vetoed the rejection of the contract. You read that correctly. he is interpreting Mississippi law to mean he can veto no-votes unless the vote carried a super majority to override his veto.

So NOW the Mayor runs Jackson with a minority of the City Council. A majority no longer means anything because the Mayor can do what he wants, appoint who he wants, and pass what he wants because he can veto no-votes or rejections. You can't make this up.

How’s the real estate market in Jackson? May look at buying a home there.

In a truly civilized society, the Mayor would be arrested and the DOJ would come in there and clean up the city.

The rare times I have to drive through Jackson, I floor it. Don't want to be in that shithole any longer than I have to.

Baton Rouge is almost there. New Orleans pretty much is.

President Biden could learn something from that guy. He could veto the fact that his Build Back Better plan didn't pass...

Can a member of the council bring a lawsuit against him as a member or does the council have to vote on that then sue as an entity? (ie: standing)

I realize it's easier to say than to do, but why don't you just move?

Jackson truly is a shite hole. If I were you, I'd go somewhere like Natchez or Vicksburg.

At this very moment, there are two garbage companies running the streets of Jackson. The one the mayor wants and the one that the city council voted for.

One of them is working for free. The way the mayor is willing to do this with the New Orleans shady company Richard's Disposal makes me think he made promises he has to keep. The last mayor of Jackson just testified in federal court against some crooks in Atlanta that were running things in Jackson.

They say that people get the government they deserve. At some point, people are going to have to realize that the idiots they are voting for are the problem. White Republicans cant be the enemy when they have all flocked to Madison and Rankin Counties.

So basically the MS State AG should be consulted by the City Council. The dude can't just make shite up and think there is no remedy for the state to control him. This is far from the first rogue mayor.

It’s not real lol.

But the point stands.

I’m using the media’s strategy.

That’s the dictator of the Central African Republic.

Isn't that similar to what Chokwe's father (a prior mayor of Jackson) decreed Jackson to be, though?

Jackson has been a 3rd world banana republic city for a long time. I wonder how long until JBE or Governor Whitmer start using the same argument.
