Jackson Hole Says Mask Ordinance is Working

• Cases have dropped from the relative rate of 10.4 cases per 100,000 people to 9.1 per 100,000, in the last seven days.
This says a lot about the people pushing it. First, rates of infection are exceptionally low, and the data they cite amounts to a rounding error. Nevertheless, any information will be touted as proof the policy is both good and working.
If cases increase, then the masks “slowed the spread of the virus” if cases decreased, then masks were also responsible.
These people claim to have science on their side, but they’re issuing speculative mandates, based on the assumption that the virus is primarily an airborne threat, and that it’s easily spread through respiration.
No one has established that. It may be true, but it remains speculation.
They also continue to tout it as deadly threat that requires citizens to upend their lives, and in some cases, truly live in terror.
They’re abusing their public’s trust when they make these unfounded and exaggerated claims.

This is a community of worried Karen’s
Then natives don’t bat an eye, but the transplants from the West Coast and the North East are in a tizzy.
The town has a population of just under ten thousand, for the record.
Oddly enough the high school football team is called the Redskins and the use the NFL branding.

I was looking at jobs there a few weeks ago. Guess I will be super safe from this virus.

The local population isn’t all that susceptible to the virus.

Jackson is a small city in the Jackson Hole valley of Teton County, Wyoming, United States. The population was 9,577 at the 2010 census.
F0r the city that would be from 10 cases to 9.
If the area is 2x that it would be from 20 to 18.

It’s about deaths, not cases, you moron.
Young healthy people should be GETTING exposed, not avoiding exposure

So you are looking down at tiger stadium on gameday before halftime of course.
Of all the people in the stadium, 10 are sick.

You only need a vague understanding of statistics to realize how statistically irrelevant that small of a change would be in such a small sample size, particularly considering all the other potential variables that could have been present in one set of data compared with the other.

For fun I checked CA's #s.
In mid June they were trending about 3,000 new cases per day. On June 18th, masks were mandated.
Since then the number of new cases has risen to 9,000 per day. We must follow the science: masks increase infections ; )
Mask made mandatory
LA Times article with cumulative cases graph

When I asked back in April, we had not had a single serious case. All positives, and we had some, resulted in mild illnesses.

I grew up in Virginia, and my family lives there.
With the way things are, I don’t think I will go back. I’d rather remember what it was.

False security plus incorrectly wearing them and not swapping out disposable masks throughout the day.

The whole thing is specious - and it’s a completely uncontrolled experiment.

Plus touching your face a shite ton, plus it traps and collects contaminated particles, etc.

I’ve been looking at property in Wyoming and Montana. Not sure I can bear the winters however.

It’s a dry winter, you might be surprised. I think a cold night in West Virginia is actually harder.
You do need a winter sport, if you’re really going to be happy.
I’ve lived in both states though, and if I was choosing between the two, I’d pick Montana.
