I’ve given this entire Pandemic thing second thoughts

Some of you may be proud of me (for partisan reasons of course), but no worries. Trump is still a jackass; a hillbilly from West Virginia could do a better job running this country than him...sorry that’s all I could think of atm.
As I’m watching this unfold at our medical facility, around Alabama, the country, and the globe...I think we should’ve just let this thing run without shutting down shite.
I think, as a general rule we should always practice good hygiene, but I don’t think the social distancing, the masks in public, and everything else that seems draconian should’ve happened, or had been allowed to occur.
Yes, the weakest among us, our elderly, deserve some consideration, as in, advise them that it is probably not a good idea to intermingle, or at the least, do so at your own risk.
But the calculation that those in charge have missed is this: this thing will come back with a vengeance in the winter months. So you have to be all-in either way: shut it down for an entire year, Hope to irradicate it(along with maybe even the flu lol), or let it run it’s course and hope not too many folks die. We landed smack dab in the middle, and even though things lighten up in the next few weeks, we will still have a problem for years to come. All we really did is buy time for hospitals to prepare for the onslaught coming later this year, which may still be overwhelming.
Not sure the economic engine being sacrificed was worth it. ShortyRob is welcome to come and take a bow.

In hindsight, it may have made the most sense to urge voluntary social distancing, perhaps with some mandatory provisions applicable to the at-risk demographics.

we didn't know that we wouldn't be affected as badly as Italy

I wouldn’t say insane. And ‘too many people’ is inaccurate also. A small collection of people run the world compared to the populace. They mostly govern through CYA methods.
I’m honestly so wrapped up in the day-to-day you just don’t have the time or resources to study it
