Ivanka Trump will be on Capitol Hill Wednesday for a series of meetings on the administration's paid family leave initiative, which appears to be her next major policy push following last week's women's economic empowerment initiative.

And Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-New York, has sponsored the Family And Medical Insurance Leave Act (FAMILY), which would give 12 weeks of paid time off for men and women and applies more broadly to those who are taking care of a family member with a serious medical issue.

FMLA already gets plenty of abuse without attaching monetary payoff to it.

She’s been pushing this from the beginning. O well. Not that big of a deal. We need more societal care for child rearing anyway. I think we’ll be fine.

As someone who is going to have kids in the next 3-5 years, I am pretty pumped about this and will take full advantage. But if I was a business owner, I would be livid.

This just seems like something the market will, and is already correcting without government intervention.

And as a male and father, 12 weeks for paternity leave is absolutely ridiculous.

Yeah great idea! I love paying people to do nothing. Dont we all? Wouldnt you OT baller types love to pay your yard guy to not show up for three weeks while you're at braxtynns U-7 World Metro league ball allstars Natty?

The protestant work ethic built this country. We didnt build this country by paying people to stay at home and raise kids. You want to take more than 2 weeks off? fine. Nbd just dont expect me to pay for it.

I legit don't know who is dumber. The paid family leave folks, the raise the minimum wage folks, or the gender pay equality folks. Hint: they are all fricking stupid because each one lowers pay which is why companies are so damn jazzed about it.

Anything any of the Trumps want is sure to be opposed by the DEMS. So, this is going to be interesting to see if all these white dress wearing lunatic women members of congress are going to team up with Ivanka and her Daddy on one of their signature issues.

For it. Instead of importing people to fix our dwindling birth rate, we should incentivize our fellow countrymen to be having their own children. This is the sort of legislation that will get swing voters to our side.

She’s pushing legislation that is antithetical to conservatives.

Why do people like her?

Because she's hot and Trump's daughter.

I don't take issue with companies giving time off to workers who have children if the company deems that employee to be worth funding the time away.

However, while I think her heart and the hearts of others like her are in the right place, ALL of these government freebies are paid for in other ways through downstream effects that the lawmakers either can't see or refuse to see because the decision positively benefits them personally through votes.

Their are reasons to be for this 1. More families would be inclined to have more kids, which is needed big time 2. Ivanka is hot af

While I would gladly frick her, I don't understand why this far left whore has any say on legislation.
