Didn’t Obama task them with studying gun deaths?

I disagree. It’s Obama’s economy, so it’s Obama’s pandemic.

Trump plan to reduce the NIH budget by almost 20% is a mistake. It will result in less innovation in drug discoveries and novel treatments.

I think you're missing the other point. Which is your logic is about on par with that of a pet rock.

If I'm your local mayor and make slashing cuts to the fire department and 3 months later your house catches on fire and the response time is inadequate would you say "it's ok, he made the cuts when there was no threat"

Of course you wouldn't

That is not what happened here. You are as full of shite as the democrats are. You will not be back when that is proven.

The article refers to cuts made in 2018

They aren't suggesting he made the cuts after the outbreak was already in motion

Why is the CDC studying gun violence?

Maybe they should focus on diseases.

Correct

But any criticism of Trump here is met with immediate derision without any consideration of the facts

I'd duck if I were you

Why is the CDC studying fun violence? Is that a disease?

What does that have to do with the topic at hand?

Good point. Why is the center for disease control being used to study gun violence? It’s completely irrelevant to their purpose.

Sometimes I sit on Study Sections in the NIH and review grants. The success rate for funding is less than 10%. A lot of good science is been left out. The proposed cuts will exacerbate the situation.

It might be in their interest to study mental health as it relates to gun suicides which was part of the study

I guess the bigger question here is why are you such a pussy that you have to immediately side step the topic?

Not yet.

It’s likely to be an open virus whose spread increases during every cold/flu season until a vaccine becomes widely available.

Getting this virus isn’t much different than getting a bad cold. Doctors will treat the symptoms and provide supportive care. Shutting down airports or disrupting the economy isn’t warranted. Is that what Democrats are asking for?

If you have to preface your response with “I don’t know if these agencies would have helped” you have just been shown an agency that has been ripe for a Government slush fund cut.

I’m asking why the Center for Disease control is wasting resources on studying something that isn’t a disease during a virus outbreak on a political message board. The CDC being weaponized for a political agenda unrelated to their focus of disease prevention and study is an entirely relevant point that you seem very unwilling to talk about.

You clearly prefer childish name calling to discussion.
