Saudi-led Alliance Moves to Blockade Qatar Over Iran Tensions
quote:

Four Arab countries led by Saudi Arabia cut diplomatic ties with Qatar and moved to close off access to the Gulf country, escalating a crisis that started over its relationship with Iran and its support of the Muslim Brotherhood.

I've mentioned this before in discussions about why KSA and Qatar aren't aligned on the pipeline issue in the Syrian Civil War. Qatar is interested in getting its share of the South Pars field into the world, and will do so, even if it has to use Iranian infrastructure.

The good news is that they get to host a World Cup in 5 years.

I recently spent time in Qatar.
It's chilling; I could write a novel on my experiences.
I find the Bahrain piece of this puzzle particularly fascinating, since the two countries are so geographically close (most flights to Qatar go through Bahrain).
Watching these developments closely ....

Go play golf and tell them to work it out themselves.

This couldn't happen...if it did, it would get very complicated quickly...

Technically, Qatar is a "closer" ally to us than Saudi...

Qatar hasn't really forgiven the KSA for interfering in their palace politics in the 90s. They've had a cautious relationship since, though they appear to have many of the same interests.

That's what I thought. Does Trump know that? Did he know that a couple of weeks ago?

I was really thinking about applying for a job position there. Should I be rethinking that idea?
