It's a Christmas Miracle!

My CPA/Tax Attorney got a letter from the IRS today saying they have closed out their case against me for 2019 back taxes. Earlier this year I got a notice that I owed $178,000 in back taxes, interest and penalties. Today the agency said instead they owe me $63.00.
My tax advisor told me you won't believe the utter incompetence of most of the agents - they're working from home with little training and almost no supervision. He said my case actually got resolved more quickly than most he's been handling lately.
All we need is another 80,000 woke agents perusing through our tax returns.
By Way of Explanation: I had extraordinary income in 2019 - I liquidated a couple of IRAs to payoff my ex-wife for her interest in our home in Asheville. I fully reported the money from the IRAs and timely paid estimated taxes. We have no idea why the IRS made such a gross error.
Maybe they were cross checking returns against 2020 ballots.

They do this shite on purpose to see who just pays it without argument since they are scared how easily the IRS can and does ruin people’s lives.

About the only thing our reps are good for is contacting them for the fed issues of the IRS. One letter from them and they back off.
Trump will be audited until he dies. They are imbeciles though. In the olden days they weren't political they were smart accountants and trained.

No legitimate accountant would go to work for the IRS. They are an insult to the profession.

The irony here is that I just got a letter saying I owe the IRS $180,000 in back taxes, interest and penalties. They said it's for the house I sold in 2018. I only made about $50k, but all taxes were taken out at closing. Seems like some kind of scam they're running over there?

I agree they are very fine and noble people that probably take pay cuts just to serve people. Someone hacked my account that tells lies about the superb IRS.
