Is there a thing as, too much information?

Back in the days before the internet and social media, we had the big three networks and newspapers giving us all of our information. It was very easy for them to coordinate the message they wanted us to hear, and thus, believe.
Now we live in a different age where a voluminous amount of information is at our fingertips, but often, there is contradictory spin on the same stories, or certain details are either left out or included in stories that completely change the narrative.
So my question is this, what is better? Limited information from a few controlled sources, or many stories from multiple sources on the same topics, but with different information and spin?
How can a person know the truth when we are presented with stories on the same subject with completely opposite takes?

For the most part, we can't.

And is this by design?

Too much info for the American citizen is better than to little.

Depends....if it's useful info, then no but most of the info we get is useless so yeah it's too much

Possibly, but are we any more informed?

Wife and I were discussing this very thing last night.
Most of the time Google results don't actually help answer my question. It's page after page of ads and other non-useful websites.
Much like a good librarian is necessary despite having a clearly indexed system. Just because the library of Congress exists doesn't mean you can find anything on your own without the help of an expert.
My case in point: I had to figure out what was wrong with my old washing machine, figure out the exact part number of what I needed to order and finally a way to hack it so it would work while waiting in the part to arrive.
It wasn't a matter of finding a YouTube video... It took a couple hours to sort through everything and make it happen.
In fact, without knowing someone named Napoleon on the OT i would have missed a couple of items.
In other words the information may exist but without knowing HOW to get to it you're just swimming in an endless ocean with no goal in sight.

Absolutely. I think the real question is who is the designer.

Apply logic - understand motives - compare words to actions - be skeptical of anything you hear from either side of a political argument - accept only that which is supported by incontrovertible facts and applied logic - don't be wedded to any ideological outcome - accept that there are bad guys on both sides of any ideological split - look for the underlying motive of any political position.
Occam's razor.

Yes, but biblical discernment is based on using scripture to differentiate between truth and lie. In non spiritual matters dealing with worldly topics, this is not always practical.

How would the scriptures help me to know if the Dems bugged Trump towers?

See what I wrote above. I know we're talking politics but the same concepts apply to all information searches.
I started an electrical question on the OT yesterday. It took 2 pages before the actual facts were posted and, for lack of a better term.."peer reviewed" in the loving way only the OT can do.
Short story: I'm happy to take my lumps to get my question answered.

You will know who is telling truth by the fruits of their spirit. Being a believer you can know if these writers and purveyors of information are following in God's will or not. Are their intentions promoting God or not? Are they in fact Godly in nature or worldly?

Exactly, to many people LISTEN to what people say instead of following what they actually DO.

Even in this quest for information one must discern from false info to truth. I have done similar while House Director for a mission home.
